Remember all the controversy over Manhunt 2? Now it might be time to see what all the fuss was about, as Amazon has it marked down to $19.99 (for today only). Most people who've played the game would probably agree that it's not worth a purchase at full price, but at half its cost you might be a little bit tempted -- if you're a crazy homicidal murderer, that is, or wish to become one. After all, those are the only kind of people who play Manhunt 2, right?

Also, we think it's a bit of a strange choice for Amazon to offer as a deal. We wonder if they'll be getting an angry letter from Jack Thompson any time soon.

Gallery: Manhunt2
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/manhunt2/258328/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/manhunt2/258327/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/manhunt2/258326/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/manhunt2/258324/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/manhunt2/258323/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Cheap prices are buzzing around GameFly

If you're one of the cool kids that visits Wii Fanboy often, you probably know that we love bargains. Even more so, we love sharing them with you. We thought we'd tell you, then, that aside from Circuit City having some sweet deals this week, GameFly is also looking to take money out of our pockets.

From today to the 19th, GameFly is having a storewide sale, which means cheap games galore. The catch is that they're used, but that's not a big deterrent since the game conditions are usually tip-top.

Some highlights include:

Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law -- $14.99

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams -- $17.99

Battalion Wars 2 -- $27.99

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles -- $29.99

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption -- $29.99

We also found some other nice sales over there, so it's worth checking them out if you're craving a new (yet used) Wii game.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Circuit City has huge sale next week

Next week is going to be hard on your wallet. Circuit City is going to be having a big sale, according to DVDTalk, and our favorite Wii game is going to be available for insanely cheap. Supposedly, you'll be able to nab Suda 51's No More Heroes for only $19.99 (or you can try your luck at nabbing it from us). If, for some crazy reason, you haven't gotten the game yet, you need to do so next week.

Aside from that, the deal is further sweetened through the retail giant offering buy one, get one %50 off on select games. These games include:

LEGO Star Wars

Outside of the games, they've also got DVDs and other junk on sale. If you're into that sort of thing.

[Thanks, Nate!]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Walmart fattens Wii Fit with $10 gift card

With preorders already sold out at Amazon, we can bet that Wii Fit will share the same success in North America that the game has seen in Europe and Japan. But, is it just soccer moms and casual gamers who are spending the hefty $90 for this nongame, or do readers like you have an interest in the product as well?

While some core gamers might not have succumbed to the Wii Fit hype, we're sure quite a few of you are more than intrigued by Nintendo's latest innovation. If so, you might be interested to know that Walmart is offering a $10 gift card with Wii Fit preorders. Of course, since shipping and tax will amount to more than $10, you're not actually saving anything. Yet, should you want to avoid the angry mom rush in brick and mortar stores and get something in return for your troubles, it might not be too bad of an idea to take advantage of this offer.

If you're considering this deal, just keep in mind that it ends on May 11th (or possibly earlier if Walmart runs out of stock).

Gallery: Wii Fit
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731120/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731119/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731118/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731117/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731116/">

[Thanks, Tristan and bakk!]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Hey, you sitting there reading this, buy No More Heroes already!

Look, folks. We've presented you with many opportunities to pick up Suda 51's amazing game for a lot cheaper than the usual $49.99 price tag. Now, Amazon is selling this game at a ridiculously low price of $29.99. That's thirty frickin' dollars. Thirty!

Whatever your excuse for not opening up the Amazon page right now and ordering the game, know this: it isn't a good enough reason. We're serious about this; if you don't own the game and read our site, we're going to call your parental units and rat you out.
Of course, we always expected as much. Preorders for Nintendo's fitness title were sky-high in Blighty, with the game pretty much selling out before it even appeared on store shelves. Even so, the record-breaking success of Wii Fit may have surprised the most optimistic of Nintendo executives.

Over the weekend, Wii Fit became the sixth fastest-selling UK videogame of all time. That's an impressive achievement for any title -- until you remember that the Wii Fit bundle costs almost as much as two games (£70). Then, the achievement stops being merely impressive, and becomes jaw-dropping. It also set a new record as Nintendo's fastest-selling game ever in the UK, beating out poor old Mario Kart Wii, which held that particular title for ... two weeks. Ouch.

Gallery: Wii Fit
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731120/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731119/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731118/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731117/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/wii-fit/731116/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Sega Superstars Tennis bombs, marked down to $20

Despite our enthusiasm (and the enthusiasm of Sega fanboys everywhere) over Sega Superstars Tennis, a release that drips with fan service, the game failed to inspire consumers to rush out and buy the game like they did with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games? Not enough Mario, perhaps? Or olympics?

Whatever the case, slow sales for the tennis title has given GameStop early cause to slash its prices for Sega Superstars Tennis across all platforms, and you can now buy the Wii game for as little as $19.99. It's a great bargain, considering the game was released only a month ago! You can order Sega Superstars Tennis through GameStop's online shop, but why not save a few bucks and pick it up at one of the retailer's local stores?

Gallery: Sega Superstars Tennis
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-superstars-tennis-2/618796/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-superstars-tennis-2/618795/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-superstars-tennis-2/618794/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-superstars-tennis-2/618793/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-superstars-tennis-2/618792/">

[Via GameStop circular]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

War isn't as expensive as it used to be [update]

We assume that if most of you were to pick up such games, though, they would have to be ones that were on sale (at least, that's how we roll). So, here are your two choices:

First off, Amazon's "Deal of the Day" is the Dreamcast port Sega Bass Fishing for $19.99. Keep in mind that the deal only lasts until 3am EDT, so you don't have too long to mull it over. The other fishing software on the menu is Rapala Tournament Fishing for $23.99 at GameQuest Direct (use coupon code CAG1SHIP for free shipping). This sale will last until Wednesday.

Like we said before, we're no experts when it comes to this genre, so if you have any insight for potential buyers, go ahead and share it in the comments.

Gallery: SEGA Bass Fishing
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-bass-fishing/611874/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-bass-fishing/611873/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-bass-fishing/611872/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-bass-fishing/611871/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/sega-bass-fishing/602202/">

[Via CAG]

Read: Sega Bass Fishing at Amazon
Read: Rapala Tournament Fishing at GameQuest Direct

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Toys R Us to have Wii this Sunday

Well now, it looks like almost all retailers will have the Wii in stock this weekend, as following up on Circuit City's "deal" is Toys R Us with an ad of their own. You see, Toys R Us is advertising (see image above) that they'll also have the console in stock, alongside Mario Kart Wii, which releases this Sunday. There is a catch with the Toys R Us deal, however.

You'll have to put some legwork in, as securing yourself a console means you have to go down to your local Toys R Us and plunk down a $200 deposit. Once done, show up on Sunday with your receipt and you'll be one happy camper. But, hey, as annoying as it is to make two trips, it's far less annoying than having to buy a ridiculously overpriced bundle from Circuit City.

[Via Joystiq]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Circuit City wants all of your money

Circuit City is currently advertising, in giant, bold letters, that they have Wiis for sale! Isn't that great? We still know people who are looking for them, after all. But unless you're looking to buy a ridiculous bundle to the tune of $550, you might want to look elsewhere.

Circuit City's bundle, which includes an extra Wii remote and nunchuk, as well as at least four games, does have one leg up on some other bundles we've seen: the games from which you choose aren't terrible. That is, it's possible to pick four mostly decent titles from the six they have on offer: Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8, Wii Play, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008, and Carnival Games. Hey, at least shipping is free! ... if you want to wait two weeks for your bundle, that is.

Of course, we know Circuit City is desperate to move all this Wii product, which is why they're requiring such an incredibly expensive bundle. They're clearly overstocked on Wiis and games, which is why they're trumpeting the fact that they're actually available, right? It couldn't possibly be the lure of an extra three hundred dollars per sale.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Super Paper price cut

Paper Mario might not be our favorite franchise, but it's definitely a key staple in Nintendo's repertoire. If you don't have the Wii's Super Paper Mario, then, you might want to consider getting it -- especially since Amazon dropped it's price by $10. As per usual, this Amazon price cut is without rhyme or reason (it may be permanent, it may not be), so we recommend taking advantage of it while you still can should this deal interest you.

We can imagine, though, that your plate of Nintendo games might be pretty full from some recent releases and upcoming titles.

Gallery: Super Paper Mario
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/super-paper-mario-1/537883/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/super-paper-mario-1/537882/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/super-paper-mario-1/537881/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/super-paper-mario-1/537880/">

[Via CAG]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Super Chart Bros. This just in: Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold a lot. That's an observation that is neither new or particularly exciting, but put it in graph form and Brawl's phenomenal success is capable of wowing us all over again.

At first glance, we presumed those blue bars represented the first month sales of all three Smash games in the U.S. But no: those are lifetime sales of Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee respectively, while the red bar is Brawl's first month sales. That's right: in its opening month alone, Brawl not only bypassed the lifetime sales of the first title in the franchise, but has already reached 70% of its predecessor's all-time sales. Our flabbers? Consider them gasted.

[Update -- incorrect link removed]

Gallery: SSBB gallery four
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/ssbb-gallery-four/695636/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/ssbb-gallery-four/695635/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/ssbb-gallery-four/695634/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/ssbb-gallery-four/695633/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/ssbb-gallery-four/695632/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Own the first Miyamoto-designed console

Looking to complete your Shigeru Miyamoto collection/shrine? Don't forget to pick up Block Kuzushi, the first system to have benefitted from his caring touch.

Supposedly, a young Miyamoto put his industrial design degree to good use and devised the Color TV Game console's external design. Essentially a Breakout clone, the system uses a dial to control its in-game paddle.

Eric from Japan Games, the same shop that introduced us to the Lasabirdie, is selling a complete Block Kuzushi on eBay, new and never used. That mint condition is almost unheard of for this 1979 console! Bidding ends in six days, so expect the price on this auction to shoot up to preposterous heights.

[Via Retro Treasures]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

NY Times tackles Wii's tie-in ratio

The Wii has comfortably outsold its rivals since it first launched, but it does lag behind in at least one other respect: the number of games sold per console. The low software tie-in ratio of the Wii is hardly a new issue, but it's one that shouldn't be ignored.

According to a new article in The New York Times, Wii owners typically purchase only 3.7 games a year, a figure that compares unfavorably with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners (4.7 and 4.6 games per year respectively). This, argues the article, is just one of the effects of the expanded audience that Nintendo has captured -- as the New York Times piece observes, most Wii owners seem to treat their console as little more than a Wii Sports machine.

There are solutions, however, with Wii Fanboy favorite Michael Pachter suggesting third-party publishers should adopt a different approach to marketing their wares. Make sure to ask the clerk if the shop will throw in a pearl necklace with the deal.

Gallery: Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure/754820/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure/754819/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure/754818/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure/754817/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure/352034/">

[Via CAG]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

GC Twilight Princess, now 24 rupees cheaper

Amazon must need to clear out its GameCube stock of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, as this is the second sale the online retailer has hosted in just two days, not that we're complaining!

The last deal lasted only four hours and offered the GameCube release for only $19.99, and, while that sounds much cheaper than the $25.99 Amazon is asking for Twilight Princess now, keep in mind that that $25+ pricing includes free shipping. You can make that kind of change slashing at grass and breaking pots for two minutes!

[Via CAG]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

House of the messenger bag

Earlier this week, we informed you lovely readers that House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return was super cheap at Circuit City. Now Amazon also has the game listed at the irresistible price of $19.99. We really don't mean to keep shoving this game down your throats, but how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? Yet, if you didn't buy House of the Dead earlier, there's probably nothing that would motivate you to get it now except an even bigger price drop.

It's also worth noting that Amazon's "Deal of the Day" is the Wii messenger bag pictured above. If you geekified hipster types were looking for a way to lug around your Wii, this bag for $19.99 isn't too bad of a deal. But, to be honest, there are probably better means that you can use to transport your console. That's just our opinion, though. What do the rest of you Wii aficionados think?
