As you can see in the video above, it has a very charming artistic style and looks to offer the same kind of fun found in other casual titles such as Cooking Mama.

Anyone liking what they see here? Well, releasing just shortly after the movie is a LEGO title that covers the first three movies.

Hey there, pretty people -- you might be interested in hearing the latest news about Telltale's upcoming WiiWare series, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. As for the rest of you uglies, just movie on -- there's nothing to see here. (If you're perusing Wii Fanboy, you're clearly hot stuff, so don't worry and read on.)

Telltale reports that the first episode of the game, titled "Homestar Ruiner," centers around Strong Bad's desire to pummel Homestar Runner. He then decides that the best way to beat his rival would be to defeat him in the tri-annual Race to the End of the Race.

You can check out the video of "Homestar Ruiner" above, although it doesn't show too much gameplay. Occasionally, it looks like you have to choose something from a thought bubble in order to progress the story, but often there's only one item to choose from. Joystiq did report that the demo for SBCG4AP was pretty linear, but hopefully the episode in its entirety will have more to offer.

We've also added some new game screens to our gallery, which feature some beloved characters from the Homestar Runner-verse, so be sure to check them out.

Gallery: Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/806500/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/806499/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/806498/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/806497/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people-1/806496/">

[Via press release; also, thanks fco!]

This video of Mad World is not technically confirmation since it could be a total fake, but it sure looks real -- and it sure is getting taken down from Youtube and Gametrailers with alarming speed.

Mad World is a bloody, futuristic action game that looks (from the blurry video) more like a brawler than the kind of operatic sword maneuvering we know from Devil May Cry. We hate to mention it again (because we always do when talking about Clover), but it evokes a futuristic, really bloody God Hand.

It looks like we were wrong about one of the rumors, by the way: Bayonetta is a PS3 game (if any of this is real), and not a Wii game.

The video begins with the caption "CHAINSAW," followed by a beefy guy in metallic, future-armor putting a chainsaw through another guy. There's a high-contrast, almost black-and-white look to the visuals. The video then cuts to "ROSE BUSH" and our hero pushes an enemy into an array of horizontal spikes. Then "HEART SURGERY" and a Kano/Mola Ram heart-ripping maneuver. The character walks toward the camera as a list of wrestling-esque move names fills the screen: "Flat Tire," "Spike Press," "Death Express," and others. Then the logo appears ("World" is inside a chainsaw blade shape). The video ends with the caption "CAUTION SIGN" followed by a clip of a guy being beaten with a sign.

[Via Joystiq]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Get to know EA's Facebreakers

We've been keeping our eyes on Facebreaker, EA's charmingly silly boxing title. The latest slew of videos feature some "getting to know you" segments with two characters in the game, who are, in a word, strange. It's these quirky characters that make Facebreaker stand out from some of the other boxing games on the Wii, though.

The trailer above shows Romeo, who looks even scarier when he's washing a car than when he's boxing. Seeing this trailer for the original 2005 PC game which the WiiWare release will be a remake of, however, has given us a new hope. This looks about a hojillion times more exciting than the clips IGN trotted out for us to preview!

Further improving our opinion of Protöthea, the original PC game was Cartoon Network's Project Goldmaster winner at the 2005 Independent Games Festival, rewarding developer Digital Builders an opportunity to create a game based on a Cartoon Network license. Knowing all this, maybe the screenshots in the gallery we've included below will seem more interesting to you.

Protöthea was supposed to launch with WiiWare, according to IGN, but we didn't see the title on the list posted earlier today, so who knows when the shmup will be thrown onto Nintendo's download service. While we wait around for someone to announce a release date, spend a moment to leave us a comment on whether or not this trailer has changed your opinion on the game.

Gallery: Protothea
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/protothea/799149/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/protothea/799148/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/protothea/799147/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/protothea/799146/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/protothea/799145/">

[Via GoNintendo]

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Mind over Mutant has Wii focus

Reading favorable impressions from the Joystiq crew about Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant helped put the game onto our selective radars. Watching this video, which features the game's senior producer Kristen Forbes, then got us even more intrigued.

Forbes points out a lot of issues that bug Wii gamers to no end -- the lack of commitment to the Wii's graphical capabilities, for one, and unnecessary waggle, for another. If the next Crash iteration can really fix these problems, though, we'll definitely be looking forward to the game's release this fall.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Behind the scenes with Mushroom Men

We may be limited to sporadic updates from Red Fly Studio's Mushroom Men, but they're usually worth the wait. Today, we've got a little quality time with the developers, who sound just as excited about working on their project as we are about playing it. They also manage to work in a little humor, which we're also big fans of around here.

The game footage included looks as great as ever, and Q4 is looking further and further away. Though, honestly, we could just stare at the concept art all day long and probably be satisfied.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Glenn Beck doesn't like game bloggers too much

Okay, now this bit on Glenn Beck's show revolves around that GTA IV game, but he does manage to say something relevant to us (and, in turn, you all reading this). He thinks game blogs are a waste of time and their bloggers are "losers," citing that he could care less about video games overall, even though he has a pretty lengthy segment on his show about them (we imagine he's had other gaming-related topics on his show, but we steer clear of shows with hosts on power trips). We can only imagine what this implies about you, the reader, who spends their time keeping current on the industry news with us.

It honestly cracks us up, because not only is he calling us losers and pretty much saying video games aren't worth his effort, but he's being such a toolbox as to say his supposed opinions during a video game segment on his show. You tell us what is worse, fine readers: a person who blogs about something they're passionate about, or a guy on TV who talks about what his producers say are the day's hot topics and blatantly shows no regard for the subject matter?

[Via Go Nintendo]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Zero Punctuation reviews fanboys

That's right: rather than dedicating this week's Zero Punctuation to the usual misanthropic, ranting reviews that we love so much, Yahtzee has answered the numerous critics of his Brawl review, which attracted over a thousand comments on the Escapist's site (and quite a few on here).

Hit the break for the full, NSFW version, and prepare yourself for a chilling insight into the minds of the most irrational fanboys.

That should help you keep them straight. When Stephen Colbert came third in the Time 100 poll, we pretty much knew that he wasn't going to be happy. Of course, as is his style, he takes quite a bit of time to lash out against Korean pop star Rain, his new arch-nemesis. But, Colbert also takes a jab at gaming icon (and winner of said poll) Shigeru Miyamoto, who you helped skyrocket to the top of the rankings.

Check past the break where we've embedded the video of Colbert attacking the gaming legend.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

'Catch' criminals, 'rescue' patients by running them over

We weren't expecting much from Emergency Mayhem, a Crazy Taxi-styled emergency services title peppered with minigames, but these video previews for the police car and ambulance modes look really fun! For a game with such a distressing past -- having been announced and canceled for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in 2004, exchanging publishers and developers several times since -- we wouldn't have been surprised if this turned out to be a wreck.

Though reviews haven't been kind to Emergency Mayhem (the game hits stores this week), we think the minigames look like a good break from all the high-speed chases and siren-whining. You can defuse bombs, administer CPR, and even help someone cough out a fly. According to these two clips, you can also get some sort of bonus by running over criminals and patients. When that gets old, you can add spice to your emergency duties by crashing into crowds of pedestrians without consequence.

Gallery: Emergency Mayhem
<a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/emergency-mayhem/710879/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/emergency-mayhem/710878/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/emergency-mayhem/710877/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/emergency-mayhem/710876/"><a href="http://"www.nintendowiifanboy.com"/photos/emergency-mayhem/710875/">

Permalink | Email this | Comments

MehWare: Ubisoft reveals Protothea

Ubisoft has finally announced its first contribution to Nintendo's forthcoming WiiWare service, and it's a remake of 2005 PC shooter Protöthea. Supposedly, there are a lot of additions, but whatever Argentine developers Sabarasa (Mazes of Fate) and Digital Builders added, it hasn't made the game interesting.

It's not just the laggard enemies and humdrum soundtrack that have us yawning -- even the heads-up display is enough to put SHMUP fans to sleep. Behold Metroid: SR388.

We always have mixed feelings about sharing fanmade renditions of Nintendo IPs with readers. On the one hand, it would be a shame if things this awesome were kept hush hush, but on the other hand, should the buzz get too loud we know Nintendo won't hesitate to squash the project. In any case, since SR388's creator Von Richter is promoting the digg link, we're going to absolve ourselves from such moral dilemmas and spread the love.

The trailer makes this game look like a 2D Metroid reimagining rather than a remake based on any particular title, although some sprites (like Samus's) were clearly ripped. Between the music, original enemies, and intriguing new weapons and abilities, this fanmake has us licking our lips in anticipation. Hopefully we'll get to try it out before Nintendo comes knocking with a cease and desist, should that happen.

Fortunately, progress on the game seems to be going quickly. According to Von Richter himself, this trailer (which was released at the end of April) is already out of date.

[Via NeoGAF]

Permalink | Email this | Comments

LostWinds trailer blows this way, makes us sleepy

LostWinds continues to look like the most tranquil Wii game of 2008. Is it just us, or does this WiiWare adventure strike you as the antithesis of most modern games, which too often seem obsessed with packing non-stop action into our already crammed craniums? We quite appreciate an occasional change of pace, and could comfortably drift off to sleep simply while listening to this trailer (were it not for our ferocious superiors, who routinely patrol the Wii Fanboy dungeon, watching for napping bloggers).

Wikipedia has LostWinds down as a WiiWare launch release, though the official site is still displaying TBA.
