Get your Wii deal on at Amazon this Friday
Eight Wii games are going to be slashed, bashed, and crashed -- price-wise, anyway -- this Friday as Amazon preps an all-Wii Gold Box. The first, the Gold Box Deal of the Day, will be revealed at midnight Pacific time, and the other seven will be up for grabs as Lightning Deals throughout the day (starting with the first at 6 a.m. Pacific). So get your clicking fingers ready to start clicking, because surely at least one of the deals will be worth buying. Let's hope!

Amazon opens WiiSpeak preorders
WiiSpeak isn't the kind of thing we can imagine selling in Wii Fit quantities, but it's getting hard to tell nowadays. Maybe the microphone add-on and Animal Crossing: City Folk will be overshadowed by the other big first-party release of November, and supplies will be plentiful, but why take the risk? You can now preorder your own WiiSpeak at Amazon, and rest assured that you'll be able to bitch behind Nook's back with your Wii Friends from day one. Hang around now, and you may be confined to the keyboard.

Sonic Riders: Cheapo Gravity
Amazon's use of the Deal of the Day as a venue for offloading Sega Wii games continues, with the sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog air-snowboarding game. New copies of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity still retail for $30 and more, so it's a bargain at $17.99. Not as much of a bargain as it was at $10.99, but still pretty good. We get enough Sonic Defense Force comments to know that there is an audience for this game! We admit to a bit of curiosity ourselves. As usual, this deal is for today only, so if you've been waiting to grab a copy of this totally extreme cartoon racing game, slam a Mountain Dew and head over to Amazon!
Bleach: Shattered Price
Want to try the Wii fighting game that Gamespot rated a 3.5 "bad"? No? What if we told you that it was based on an anime series? Actually, Gamespot's review score for Bleach: Shattered Blade is way on the low end of a fairly equal distribution of scores from 35% all the way up to 80%. What does that mean for us? It means we have no idea whether or not we'd like it, and neither does the reviewing community in general. If you ever wanted to try Shattered Blade, either due to Bleach fandom or love of fighting, today would be a good day for it. It's Amazon's Deal of the Day for $20.
Amazon dates, prices maraca attachments for Samba de Amigo
It would seem the final maraca attachments for Samba de Amigo on the Wii have been leaked over at Amazon (you can catch an eyeful above, obviously). For those of you who've been following the title, you already caught a glimpse of the earlier version. We guess those were just prototypes. Personally, we dig the red.
Amazon has a date on these for September 23rd, along with a price of $14.99, should you need that extra pair for some multiplayer action. Obviously, the game will release in a bundled form for those of you that absolutely need these hunks of plastic with your game.
[Thanks, Redd Starrs!]

Wii Music dated for US?
Yesterday, NCSX opened preorders for Japanese copies of Wii Music, which is officially coming out October 16. We haven't gotten an official US date beyond 'Holiday 2008,' but two retailers seem to have agreed upon a potential date: November 3. Both Amazon and GameStop are taking preorders for the multiplayer musical toy thing, to ship (as of now, anyway) on that projected release date. Gamefly says October 29, which is very strange: Gamefly's release dates tend to be behind the real date, not ahead of it.
With the holiday season rapidly approaching, we're sure Nintendo will date or delay Wii Music soon, but for now, we can look forward to the shortages kicking off on November 3.

The cost to Brawl just got a lot cheaper
If you've been waiting for a good chance to purchase one of the Wii's best games, know that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has just received a price cut over at Amazon. Instead of the reasonable sum of $49.99 (seriously, the game is jam-packed with content), you can now subtract a cool $10 from the price, which brings the game down to $39.99. We can't imagine why you wouldn't own this game already, but if you don't, then get on it now.

We love Super Smash Bros. Brawl. There's always someone trying to play at Game Night every week. On top of that, check out our farewell feature to the Smash Bros. Dojo, as well as the funny and zany images the community has come up with.

Dragon Quest Swords gets a slimey sale
Most reviewers rank Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors as mediocre, but $17 sounds like a fair price for the game. If you happen to agree (and can buy games from Amazon.com), you should probably hit up Amazon's "Deal of the Day."
The battle system might take you to "Waggle City" and the story might fall a little flat, but cheap prices tend to make up for these things. Then again, the price of Dragon Quest Swords has been dropping steadily at Amazon for a while now, and might even go lower in the near future. Unfortunately, we're too busy to get into our time machines and check.

Oh man, I am so Wii Fit right now, I have no idea what's going on
There is no better way to celebrate your healthy and happy Wii Fit lifestyle than by embracing the power of a mind-altering drug. To cover up your dirty old Balance Board, AMR Racing (creators of the Hoochie Mama) has created a marijuana print, lovingly entitled Weed White. This isn't exactly the message Nintendo would want to send to the children of the world, but to all the Wii Fit moms out there? Smoking a joint might be totally fair game. You can pick up this cover from Amazon for around $20, which includes a bonus Wiimote skin. Might want to grab a bag of Doritos while you're at it.

Datel releasing Famicom-inspired Classic Controllers
With Super Famicom- and even PSP-inspired Classic Controllers hitting the market, we're not surprised to see someone exploit the sentiments of nostalgic gamers with a pad fashioned after the original Famicom controller.
Available in Japan starting this September, Datel's line of retro Classic Controllers -- all four of which you can view in the gallery below -- will retail for ¥1,659 (approx $15.54). It's nowhere near an exact replica, as you'll notice several missing and inconsistent design elements, but the controller features Home and Turbo buttons. Also, you can relive those childhood memories of throwing an NES pad at the wall after crashing into the aircraft carrier for the 20th time in Top Gun.

Bargains on Bully and bullet hell

If you're the type to never pay retail on anything, especially video games, the like-minded misers at the Cheap Ass Gamers community have found two worthwhile Wii deals for you:
If you haven't looked into shoot-em-up Castle of Shikigami III before, make sure you check out the videos we posted a couple of months ago -- there's a flying butler! Amazon also has CSI: Hard Evidence on sale for $19.99, but we have a feeling that not many of you will be too excited to pick up this video game adaptation of a poor man's Law & Order.

Take advantage of a fit Gold Box deal today at Amazon [update]
Despite the crazy amount of deals Amazon threw at us last week, the online retailer has another trick up its sleeve. Of course, this time it won't be anything as grandiose -- just a single Gold Box deal, lasting from 10am-1pm PDT.
The wording of the deal has caused some to speculate that Amazon will be offering Wii Fit: "No more slip-slidin' away while you get your Fit on. " However, we think this wording implies that the retailer will be offering a deal on a Wii Fit accessory, like a mat (or maybe even a whole bunch of accessories). Considering Amazon doesn't have the game itself in stock, we doubt they'd be hoarding copies just for a Gold Box when selling them regularly would be easier and more lucrative.
We'll know for sure soon enough, though -- and don't worry, all you cheap readers out there, we'll keep you updated.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]
[Update: The deal was revealed; you can grab this Wii Fit Balance Board Mat for $16.99 ($8 off). If interested, you have to go to the actual Gold Box (and not the item's product page) to see the slashed price.]

On sale at Amazon -- Nine cheap games for Nintendo lovers [update 5]
The "Nintendo Icon" Amazon Gold Box has gone live, so it's time for those of you who can shop at Amazon.com to get your credit cards at the ready. With nine different deals on the table today, you might just find something that appeals to you.The "Deal of the Day" is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for $25.99, which really leaves you with no excuse not to buy it. The lightning deals are where the excitement is always at, though, and there are eight of them that will cycle throughout the day.
Before we get into what's on the list, we must say that the sales are slightly disappointing. Maybe it's just us, but we wish Amazon had included more second-party titles. After all, such games are considered "Nintendo Icons," too. There's one title in particular that we feel is sorely missing -- but we digress.
To see Amazon's hints for the eight lightning deals, just click past the break.

Major savings on Amazon this Friday
Deals of the day? They're great. Gold Boxes? Even better.
Amazon is outdoing itself this Friday, though, by offering nine -- yes, nine -- deals for cheap gamers like ourselves. Aside from the "Deal of the Day" (which will go up at 12am PST, as usual), the online retailer will present eight lightning deals throughout the day. Starting at 6am PST, each deal will run for two hours, with the last occurring at 8pm.
Note: The Gold Box says "Nintendo" sales, so while we bet there will be at least one Wii game on sale, there might be other hardware, software, or accessories on Amazon's plate. Either way, we'll keep you posted on Friday.
[Thanks, sn1per!]

Target Terror, Anubis II prices slashed to reflect quality
Konami's awful arcade-to-Wii Target :Terror port was a hilarious prank at first, one we were willing to play along with, what with its goofy FMV terrorists and over-the-top 9/11-inspired plot. But the joke immediately stopped being funny when we saw the light-gun game's retail price: $39.99. We crossed our arms, turned our head slightly to the site, gave Target: Terror's box a stern look, and said out loud, "Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?"
Willis must have changed his tune, however, as Amazon has temporarily marked down the game to $15.88, a price more in line with the amount most people would be willing to pay for the 2004 shooter. Grab it before the sale ends!
While it won't add enough to your total to make your order eligible for Amazon's Free Super Saver Shipping ($25), you can also pick up Data Design Interactive's Anubis II for a reduced $5.95. Some might feel that's still asking too much the game, however ...
