OFLC reveals more TG16 games for Australia

Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification has looked into the company crystal ball and delivered a prophecy of new Virtual Console games. Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure, Cratermaze, Dead Moon, J.J. and Jeff, and World Sports Competition are destined for the Australian Virtual Console. Do things download

We don't have Bonk 3 or Cratermaze yet in the US, and it looks like Australia's going to get the VC versions first. It's only fair, we suppose, since the real HuCards were actually sold here at one point.

VC Tuesday: Dead moon over the demon castle

Even though we usually support the more obscure VC releases, we can't help but focus our attention on this week's most mainstream title: Castlevania. Finally making its appearance on the Japanese Virtual Console, Konami's side-scroller is a must-buy. I personally consider "liking Castlevania a lot" as an important component of my personality. What an awesome night to have a curse.

Like Castlevania, Power Sports and Dead Moon have both already arrived in the US (Power Sports as World Sports Competition), and Ichidant-R, a Bonanza Bros. spinoff, is the sequel to Tant-R, seen on the Sega Classics Collection. A multiplayer puzzle minigame collection, Ichidant-R is sort of a precursor to Mario Party and Wario Ware.

Hajimari no Mori is a graphical text adventure from Nintendo! Let's all hope for a miracle localization for that one.
  • Akumajou Dracula (Famicom Disk System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
  • Hajimari no Mori (Super Famicom, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
  • Ichidant-R (Mega Drive, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points)
  • Power Sports (PC Engine, 1-5 players, 600 Wii Points)
  • Dead Moon (PC Engine, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)

VC Friday: Shooting rubber balloons

At the very least, this is a great week for pricing on the Virtual Console -- all three of the games are near the lower end of the pricing scheme, and for gamers trying to collect 'em all (or at least, as many as they can!), that's usually good news. Don't think that limits the choices, however; this week, you can choose your poison -- puzzle, shooter, or ... uh ... Balloon Fight. It's fighting. With balloons. Which is, of course, awesome.
  • Adventures of Lolo - NES - 500 Wii points
  • Balloon Fight - NES - 500 Wii points
  • Dead Moon - TurboGrafx - 600 Wii points

Nintendo celebrates 100th VC release

Nintendo is celebrating the release of their 100th Virtual Console title this Monday, giving us all the chance to download The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (would've been nicer if the download was free). Now, most gamers usually have a strong opinion about this game, whether it be of extreme hate or strong love, so we won't bother trying to give you our opinions. Besides, there's a time and place for that.

Also, our resident Hudsonaholic (what else are we supposed to call him?) JC would like everyone to know that Hudson will be gifting us with the shooter Dead Moon on Monday. Evidence of such can be found on Hudson's main web page.
