The recently-merged Activision Blizzard doesn't know what's up, either. That's why they're still considering what to do with the game and "reviewing its options regarding titles that it will not be publishing." This means that should the company decide not to publish the game, it could be sold off to another publisher. Either way, we just want to see it release.

Activision Blizzard still 'reviewing' fate of Ghostbusters
For those of us who enjoyed unprecedented levels of excitement at the announcement of a Ghostbusters game, it's been a rocky ride ever since. First, we heard it was canceled, then the Terminal Reality boss said it would be published. Now, we just don't know what's up.

Terminal Reality boss says Ghostbusters 'will be published'
Don't throw out that book on how to not cross streams, because the upcoming Ghostbusters game might not be canceled. At least, according to Terminal Reality boss Mark Randel, who told videogaming247 that "Ghostbusters will be published. That's all I can say at the moment."This, of course, isn't assurance that the game will release on the Wii, since Terminal Reality is working on the Xbox 360 version (Red Fly is developing the Wii version). But, it's something, which is much better than what we had to work with previously: nothing.

We ain't afraid of no ghosts, just cancellation
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Ghostbust ... er ... well, maybe not.
With the Blizzavision merger, a few Sierra titles (like Ghostbusters) may get the axe. When it comes to efficiency, Sierra has been deemed a "non-strategic business unit," which (we're sure we don't have to tell you) is not good. While the recently merged publisher reports that Sierra franchises like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will be safe, the fate of Ghostbusters is still up in the air.
Offering a bit of reassurance, Sierra claims, "[Ghostbusters] is not cancelled and will not be cancelled." Some words from the people with the money, though, would probably make us feel better.

E308: Ghostbusters busting ghosts, faces
Ghostbusters could be good, but the antics of Slimer and the gang might not make a smooth video-gamerial transition. If you watch the above trailer, peruse the new gallery and your head doesn't explode, there's a chance for success in an otherwise disappointing scenario.
While "cartoonish" graphics might not be everyone's cup of tea, Red Fly still stood up to defend the game, with fun a priority. Realistically, that should be the goal for all games, but somehow adding the word "party" when describing a Wii title actually results in negative fun levels.

There is no Ghostbusters Wii/DS connectivity, only Zuul
Apparently the report yesterday that Ghostbusters on the Wii would allow you to use your DS as a simulated PKE meter was in error. Terminal Reality's Mark Randel (who is kind of a strange authority on this game since Red Fly Studio is developing the Wii and DS games, but who no doubt knows more about it than us) told videogaming247 that no such feature was implemented. "It would have been really cool though."It has yet to be confirmed if either the Wiimote or DS will be able to interface with the Statue of Liberty. Hopefully some clever homebrewer/sorcerer/Scourge of Carpathia/Sorrow of Moldavia can come up with a slime that uses the Twilight Hack.

Connect your Wii and DS, track paranormal activity
Our enthusiasm for Ghostbusters has taken a real beating these past few weeks -- after the initial yaaaay period of retro-tinged excitement wore off, suddenly we started to receive worrying news. Terms such as "casual" and "family-friendly" were bandied about in relation to the Wii edition, and we began to panic and hyperventilate a bit, despite Red Fly's admirable attempts to calm us down.So here's something to lift our spirits (har): according to Sierra studio director John O'Keefe, the Wii version will support both four-way split-screen and the ability to connect your DS to your Wii and deploy the handheld as a PKE meter, a.k.a, the device with the winged arms that the real Ghostbusters used to track spooks. How totally awesome is that?
"Very awesome" is the answer.
Vivendi ain't afraid of no promotion
Vivendi has the right idea when it comes to marketing their upcoming Ghostbusters game. What they did was take this Ecto-1 (which, if you haven't guessed, is the Ghostbuster transportation vehicle of choice) and bring it on down to the local Best Buy to start drumming up attention for the upcoming game. Thankfully, website Ghostbuster Fans was on hand to take pictures of the vehicle (like, a lot of pictures), giving us a glimpse at the whole outside and inside of the vehicle.

Red Fly defends Wii, PS2 versions of Ghostbusters
With the revelation that a new Ghostbusters experience would be making its way to the Wii, many a fan of Nintendo's newest console found themselves incredibly excited. And, for good reason, because if there's any game that could make good use of the Wiimote, it would be a well-done Ghostbusters game. But, all would not be as we hoped it would be.The Wii version of the game, compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, would be more of a family-friendly title with cartoonish graphics and a local multiplayer emphasis on the gameplay. Essentially dumbed down for the Wii, many of those same enthusiastic folks found themselves upset that they weren't getting the same experience. You could count us among them.
Red Fly doesn't want us to be alarmed, however. They argue that the Wii version of the game isn't just a "down-port of the Xbox 360 version of the game," but a "unique experience" that will "make you feel like a Ghostbuster when you play." We hope so, because the Wii version of the game is just aching to be amazing.
Ghostbusters definitely afraid of ghosts, bad for their health
Some new details have emerged regarding the Wii version of the upcoming Ghostbusters game (aside from what was already reported), courtesy of Game Informer magazine. And, it would seem the game is going to be more of a party-type game, with a heavy focus on multiplayer. The graphics will focus more on a cartoonish presentation (we're guessing cel-shading) and the title's main storyline will follow the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
The single player campaign will allow up to 4 players to compete co-operatively or competitively. Ghosts will act much like they do in the movies, flying through walls and objects, scaring the Ghostbusters (which will drain their health). The Ghostbusters will also have all of their tools at their disposal, including one special power for each Ghostbuster. There will also be a ghosts vs. Ghostbusters mode.
The game is currently slated for a Halloween 2008 release.

Ghostbusters dumbed down on Wii?
It was with great excitement that we told you about a Ghostbusters game coming to the Wii, espcially with such a huge part of the cast and crew being part of the project. Another little detail has surfaced through a Variety article, though, which had the effect of smashing some of our excitement into tiny bits of desperation. As is stated in the article, "Developer Terminal Reality is making a 'Ghostbusters' game for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 aimed primarily at the core gamer demographic, while Red Fly Studios is making a version for Playstation 2, Wii and DS designed more for families and casual gamers."When we first heard this game was coming to the Wii, we thought of how much fun it would be to suck up ghosts with our Wiimotes. If the Wii game is a dumbed down, "casual" version, however, you can bet we'll be getting Ghostbusters for another system instead. We'll just have to wait and see if more details arise, but for now we can feel our excitement plummeting.

Wii ain't afraid of no ghosts
Over a year ago, a British magazine compiled what seemed like a joking list of great possible ideas for Wii games -- and one of those is about to become a reality. Not long after a rumor surfaced of a beloved 80s franchise getting remade in gaming form, Game Informer revealed their December cover today, along with the meat behind that rumor: Ghostbusters is returning! And not in the typical lame, useless fashion we usually see with movie-based games, either; the game, which will be multi-platform, is being written by Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd as a follow-up to Ghostbusters I and II. They'll also be lending their voices to the production. We can't wait to hear more about this one, but for now, we're just going to hope desperately that some tender lovin' care goes into the Wii version, because it could be awesome with motion controls.
