Free Radical teases Wii gamers some more

Early last month, Free Radical put a poll up on their site asking folks which platform they would want to see TimeSplitters 4 on. Wii actually ended up winning the poll and now Free Radical has put up something new on their site.

Now, they've got a new poll up on their site, focusing on the Wii. While we're all for gathering information (hey, it's what we do), we have on simple request: just get to work on TimeSplitters4 already! Please? We'll, uh, draw you a picture of a unicorn or something.

Free Radical asks us to vote on TimeSplitters 4 platform

Free Radical, the folks behind the TimeSplitters games and former Rare employees responsible for GoldenEye 007, have tossed up a poll on their website asking one and all which platform they'd like to see TimeSplitters 4 release on. We all know it's coming, they know we know and now are asking us which system we prefer? At the time of writing this post, it looks like more people would like to see the thing release on PS3, but the system isn't winning by that much.

If you want TimeSplitters 4 on Wii, we'd suggest you head over there and make your voice heard. If you don't know what TimeSplitters 4 is, then we suggest you play all of the previous games or, in the least, the best title in the series. We just hope the new game still has a level editor.

Oh, and they also have some artwork up on their site, featuring a cat on wheels and one hot chainsaw-toting nun.

Hard Working American People

Because there's nothing like heading to work as soon as you get home from work, Hudson is planning on bringing Hard Working People to North America. There's just one thing: it may not actually be called Hard Working People when it gets here. The game's final title is up for debate, or rather, vote; on Hudson's website, you can choose from possible titles like Help Wanted (currently in the lead), the good ol' Hard Working People, and Job Heroes, among others.

While this one looks pretty hilarious, we're always a little wary of games that require work (see also: Animal Crossing and more), but when that game is centered around working, we're doubly uncertain. Maybe we shouldn't be translating everything into a waggling mini-game simply because we can. Then again, Hard Working People really does look like Everything Mama, and thus could be promising. The jury, as they say, is still out. Out working.

Wii Fanboy Poll: Do you homebrew?

We talk about homebrew a lot here at Wii Fanboy. We love the community and we love the cool things they're always cooking up. Some things look like they require at least some technical knowledge, some things look like they require absolutely none. What we'd like to know is how many of you enjoy the apps and cool things the homebrew community has come up with. So, head past the break and take part in our poll!

Wii Fit: You decide!

There's every chance you'll already have made your mind up on Wii Fit, but hopefully one of our perspectives will have influenced those of you who are undecided. So what's it going to be, folks? You decide!

What's your take on Wii Fit?

Miyamoto nominated again for Time 100

It's that time of year again, folks -- the point at which we implore you to help us shamelessly rig an internet poll so that Nintendo design guru and all-round hero Shigeru Miyamoto can climb as high as possible in Time magazine's list of the year's most influential people.

The Shigster is amongst 207 names to be shortlisted for the final Time 100, and currently lies in 25th spot, after coming ninth last year. At the time of writing he's sandwiched between Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (who, as a self-made billionaire of 24, we find eminently punchable) and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, son of the assassinated Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto.

On his profile page, the magazine mentions the usual Miyamoto achievements (Donkey Kong, Mario, father of modern videogaming, etc.), but also refers to Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit, and ponders whether the latter will help "reverse gravity for all the obese, video game–playing kids out there." If it does, we'd say that's worthy of a top five spot next year!

Nintendo Power asks for your VC wishlists

We get to have our say about what we'd like to see on the Virtual Console every single week, and now Nintendo Power is giving its readers the chance to do the same. At first, we thought Nintendo Power just might be able to turn Nintendo's head to what the fans want (it is, after all, the official Nintendo tome for the U.S.). And then, we read the disclaimer: "This is for polling purposes only, and will in no way determine future Virtual Console releases." But we don't believe them. Actually, we kind of do believe them, but it's worth a shot, right? Right?

If you want to take part and push your game up the list, just drop a line to vcpoll@futureus.com, and the magazine will do the rest, totting up the votes and publishing the top 100 most requested not-yet-Virtual Console games in a future issue. It'd be nice if you put in a shout for some of our favorites as well. Not that we're Secret of Mana suggesting you Pilotwings 64 do anything Alf untoward like rigging the results.

Wii Play: You decide

You've heard the arguments for and against the success of the Wii Play package, and now it's time for you to tell us where you stand.

Wii Play: deserving of success?

Is Mario a bipartisan ambassador?

With all the news of Mario relating to politics this week, we have to speculate that our favorite Italian plumber (as opposed to the millions of other Italian plumbers you know) is currently aiming for the position of World Dictator. As it stands, it seems that pretty much everyone would be okay with that.

According to a Zogby poll, the games of choice for conservatives are Madden and Mario, while liberals like Mario and The Sims. See the common denominator? Even middle-of-the-road folks love him, choosing mostly to play Mario, Donkey Kong, and Madden.

We don't know how reliable a poll like this is (as Game Politics points out, where are all the Halo players?), but one thing is certain: the people love their Mario.

Suddenly, the term "Mario Party" seems to have taken on a whole new meaning.

Mario for Prime Minister of Canada

Nintendo of Canada commissioned a survey (for bragging rights, perhaps?) to find out whether Mario or Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was more recognizable. The winner? Yep, our favorite plumber.

In the cities of Toronto, Calgary (where Harper was a Member of Parliament), and Halifax, more people could identify Mario's picture than Harper's picture. On the one hand, it's not surprising that everyone seems to know Nintendo's icon. On the other hand, however, it's embarassing for the human race in general that we can identify more with a fictional (albeit lovable) character more than our world leaders.

So, what did Nintendo of Canada have to say on the issue? The company's general manager Ron Bertram responded, "Canadian politicians are lucky Mario doesn't have his Canadian citizenship and could campaign for office." Oh, snap! Hear that, Mr. Harper? You may want to fire your campaign team and hire Nintendo's PR sector instead.

1UP offers up 5 must-have titles

For as much as we usually enjoy their coverage, we're left smacking ourselves in the head and yelling "duh!" to ourselves regarding this top five list of supposed overlooked games. They're titles we've very much conveyed our excitement over in the past, so we're wondering why they're so late to the party on this one.

After checking out their list, hit up our poll below and let us know which one you think is the best of the best. And, after that, leave a comment letting us know of an upcoming title that is a must-have that isn't on the list.

Awfully demanding, aren't we?

Which of these 5 games is a must-have?

Fans have spoken: Mega Man for Wii, please

Capcom held a poll last week asking which platform gamers most wanted to see a new Mega Man game on, and Wii won! If Capcom listens to our opinions, we can expect an announcement soon about a new Wii game. Of course, they've probably already been working on a Wii Mega Man game-- why wouldn't they?

The only question is: which spinoff series will it be? Mega Man X? Mega Man Battle Network? Mega Man Star Force? Mega Man Zero? Mega Man ZX? Mega Man Legends? (That one would actually be okay!) Maybe it'll be a Rockman Battle & Chase sequel. The only thing we're absolutely certain won't happen is a real Mega Man game. After years of milking the series on the NES, Capcom seems to be extremely resistant toward putting the Blue Bomber back at the forefront of the series.

Poll results: Still having trouble finding a Wii?

After asking you all about your quest to hunt down and secure a Wii, we're surprised to see that so many of you still don't have a Wii. It's been that tough trying to find a Wii? We were sure that the situation had improved significantly, based on our own findings at popular stores in our area.

Have those of you still in need of a Wii checked online vendors?

Poll: Are you still having trouble finding a Wii?

We were cruising around the net, checking out this and that, when we stumbled over to CNN and found this story involving Wii supply and demand. We then began to wonder about you, fine reader, and your quest to find a console. We all know it's been tough since launch to get one, but we've seen stores in our area actually have consoles on the shelf.

So, we'd like to know if it's the same for you. Having trouble finding a Wii?

Still having trouble finding a Wii?
Yes, I've checked all the stores near me, and online, with no luck.
Nope, I nabbed a Wii right off a store shelf with ease.
Nope, got mine through an online vendor.
I have had a Wii for awhile now.
What's a Wii?

Poll: WiiWare's real launch date

Nintendo's "early 2008" prediction for the launch of WiiWare might seem like a lifetime away, but we're still not convinced that the company has given itself enough time to turn the Shopping Channel into a vehicle for new downloadable game content. Nintendo isn't exactly known for its punctuality -- one need only look to the DS's delayed WiFi Connection implementation or the GameCube's nearly-nonexistent online service for examples of stalled promises.

What're your thoughts on the possibilities of WiiWare arriving on schedule? Does early 2008 really sound feasible? Or does it sound like a bunch of duck tales (a-woo-woo!)?

When do you expect WiiWare to launch?
Early -- 2007 holiday season!
Early 2008, as promised.
Slight delay to summer 2008.
Delayed to 2008 holiday season.
A 2009 launch, with little fanfare.
When monkeys fly out of my butt.
