Murder training for cheap at Amazon

Remember all the controversy over Manhunt 2? Now it might be time to see what all the fuss was about, as Amazon has it marked down to $19.99 (for today only). Most people who've played the game would probably agree that it's not worth a purchase at full price, but at half its cost you might be a little bit tempted -- if you're a crazy homicidal murderer, that is, or wish to become one. After all, those are the only kind of people who play Manhunt 2, right?

Also, we think it's a bit of a strange choice for Amazon to offer as a deal. We wonder if they'll be getting an angry letter from Jack Thompson any time soon.

Wii Fit preorders jog away from retailers

If you plan on getting Wii Fit without being trampled by Oprah-watching woman types, you better have secured your preorder already, as pickings are getting slim.

Not only has Amazon stopped taking them for Nintendo's popular fitness game, but IGN reports that GameStop has also suspended preorders for the title and Game Crazy is nearly tapped out. GoNintendo notes that Toys R Us (dot com) has run out of preorder stock, too, leaving Walmart's online store as one of the few options left -- although we're sure it's only a matter of time before that ends, as well.

This sounds eerily similar to what happened in the UK a few weeks ago, and now retail copies of Wii Fit seem to be more scarce than holy grails there. The one lesson that we can take away from all this? Nintendo is really good at printing money.

Amazon sells out of Wii Fit preorders

For those of you who did not preorder Wii Fit and think it won't be a problem picking the bundle up on release date through walk-in at your local retail spot, know this: Amazon has cleared through their entire preorder stock in less than a month. It comes out to about 2.5 units sold every minute, according to an Amazon representative that spoke with Joystiq.

It looks like the grim picture painted by Michael Pachter is coming true. Wii Fit fever has caught on, thanks in part to the software and Balance Board, as well as the mainstream media coverage and marketing push from Nintendo. Our advice? If you haven't planned on how you're going to get Wii Fit by now, there's a good chance you won't be able to nab one on release day.

Hey, you sitting there reading this, buy No More Heroes already!

Look, folks. We've presented you with many opportunities to pick up Suda 51's amazing game for a lot cheaper than the usual $49.99 price tag. Now, Amazon is selling this game at a ridiculously low price of $29.99. That's thirty frickin' dollars. Thirty!

Whatever your excuse for not opening up the Amazon page right now and ordering the game, know this: it isn't a good enough reason. We're serious about this; if you don't own the game and read our site, we're going to call your parental units and rat you out. That's how serious we are about you needing to buy, and play, this game. Especially when it's this cheap.

More Paper Mario for less paper: The Four-Years-Later Sale

If, for some reason or another, you missed out on Super Paper Mario's GameCube predecessor, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, here's your chance to pick up the title that won the "Console Role Playing Game of the Year" award at the 2005 Interactive Achievement Awards, without having to feel guilty about spending too much money on an RPG released all the way back in 2005.

Amazon has slashed a sizable chunk from The Thousand-Year Door's usual $19.99 pricing, and for the duration of the day (or while stocks last) you can buy the game for only $11.99. You can stash the money you'll save in a fund for eventually buying a copy of Super Mario RPG!

Super Paper price cut

Paper Mario might not be our favorite franchise, but it's definitely a key staple in Nintendo's repertoire. If you don't have the Wii's Super Paper Mario, then, you might want to consider getting it -- especially since Amazon dropped it's price by $10. As per usual, this Amazon price cut is without rhyme or reason (it may be permanent, it may not be), so we recommend taking advantage of it while you still can should this deal interest you.

We can imagine, though, that your plate of Nintendo games might be pretty full from some recent releases and upcoming titles.

GC Twilight Princess, now 24 rupees cheaper

Amazon must need to clear out its GameCube stock of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, as this is the second sale the online retailer has hosted in just two days, not that we're complaining!

The last deal lasted only four hours and offered the GameCube release for only $19.99, and, while that sounds much cheaper than the $25.99 Amazon is asking for Twilight Princess now, keep in mind that that $25+ pricing includes free shipping. You can make that kind of change slashing at grass and breaking pots for two minutes!

House of the messenger bag

Earlier this week, we informed you lovely readers that House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return was super cheap at Circuit City. Now Amazon also has the game listed at the irresistible price of $19.99. We really don't mean to keep shoving this game down your throats, but how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? Yet, if you didn't buy House of the Dead earlier, there's probably nothing that would motivate you to get it now except an even bigger price drop.

It's also worth noting that Amazon's "Deal of the Day" is the Wii messenger bag pictured above. If you geekified hipster types were looking for a way to lug around your Wii, this bag for $19.99 isn't too bad of a deal. But, to be honest, there are probably better means that you can use to transport your console. That's just our opinion, though. What do the rest of you Wii aficionados think?

Trauma Center: New sale

Is it us, or has Amazon been a great place for Nintendo shoppers lately?

In any case, today's "Deal of the Day" is Trauma Center: New Blood, the most recent (until July 1st!) Trauma Center game on the market. If Atlus decides to bring the series back to the DS for good, this may be the last time you get to operate with your Wiimote.

The deal also provides pretty decent savings, as the game is marked down by $17 (meaning it will cost you $32.99). Is anyone planning on getting this today? If so, just make sure you order it before 3am EDT.

Amazon opens preorders for Wii Fit

Following today's confirmation that the path to a more fit and healthy you with Nintendo's Wii Fit will cost you the hefty sum of $90 comes news that Amazon has opened up preorders for the bundle. When? Like, right now.

So for those of you who find the idea of parting with such a large amount of money irrelevant compared to the exercise the title will offer, then you might want to head on over and check out the page on Amazon. If you don't want to get it there, let us know where you plan on picking it up!

Guitar Hero III still on sale at Amazon

You may have missed out on Amazon's Gold Box deals, but the online retailer is still selling Guitar Hero III for cheap. Sure, it's not as cheap, but it's $15 off the MSRP, nonetheless.

Since the Les Paul guitar will cost you $59.99 alone, buying the set for $74.99 isn't too bad of a deal. Also, it seems that Amazon is selling the fixed edition of the game, so you won't have to worry about mono sound issues or future disc swapping with your purchase.

[Thanks, David!]

Amazon's Wii Gold Box deals return!

Out of nowhere, Amazon has kicked off another day devoted to Wii bargains! Similar to February's series of Gold Box deals, the online retailer has put up a bargain for the day -- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for $29.99.

Four additional "Lightning Deals" will also be posted at 6:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 6:00 PM PST, each sale limited to its four-hour block. Most of these games sell out within minutes, though, so you'll want to start refreshing the Gold Box page around those times.

Amazon has put up clues for the mystery Lightning Deals; we've accompanied them with our guesses!
  • 6:00 AM: "The hunt is on for big game." - Cabela's Big Game Hunter
  • 10:00 AM: "Wii will, Wii will rock you!" - Guitar Hero 3
  • 2:00 PM: "Muster your squad to fight the terrorist threat." - Ghost Squad
  • 6:00 PM: "Get your hardball fix without worrying about rainouts." - MLB Power Pros/MLB 2k8/The Bigs

We Got It 4 Cheap: 38 Wii sales at Amazon

The thrifty kids at Cheap Ass Gamers have compiled a list of Wii games currently on sale at Amazon, digging up almost 40 different deals. Of course, most of them are junk -- pet sim shovelware and titles based on movie licenses -- but there are a few marked down that you'll likely find interest in:
We can't guarantee how long these bargains will last, so jump on them now while you can, or you'll end up having to settle for Chicken Shoot. Bring your cart past the post break for the full tally of discounted games.

As No More Heroes' price falls, its awesomeness rises

Hey, you! No, not you, kid, the person over 17 next to you. Buy No More Heroes! Your concerns about finances are becoming increasingly irrelevant, because the price on Amazon keeps dropping. It's currently at $33.99 with free shipping available!

We would recommend No More Heroes to anyone (of the appropriate age) who enjoys action games -- and we did! It's by far the best action game on the system, and it holds up well against other action games of the last couple of generations. In fact, just talking about it now makes us want to turn on the Wii and get back into our second playthrough.

No More MSRP

We don't really understand Amazon's price drops. Why do the prices for some games drop? And how long do such drops last? Yet, that doesn't mean we don't love them -- especially when it comes to getting one of the best games on the Wii cheaply.

Now at Amazon (until when?) you can get No More Heroes for $39.99. That's the best deal we've seen on the game so far, and in our expert blogger opinions, it's worth every penny.

Another price drop to note is House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, which fell $5, meaning that the game will only cost you $24.99. Unfortunately, this price puts it just under Amazon's free shipping qualification by a penny, which sours the deal a little bit. Also, we can't imagine that a price drop so early in the game's life cycle could mean good things for how the it's selling, even if the sale is only on Amazon.

As far as we can tell, the price drops on Amazon fluctuate as a game goes in and out of stock. So, if you check these out and one of the deals is over, it might be worth looking again at a later date.
