Wii Points up for grabs in Tetris Party tournaments

Those online Tetris Party tournaments won't just enhance your fearsome internet reputation -- they'll also offer Wii Points as prizes, a pretty awesome way of keeping player interest high. The first tournament kicks off December 1st, and contains four rounds, each featuring one of Tetris Party's eighteen variations. After you complete a round, the game will give you a rank and confirmation code, which you can register at the official Tetris Party tournament site. Perform strongly over all four rounds, and you could win!

Five hundred prizes are up for grabs (though how many points will be given away isn't known), and we're fairly sure this is a global contest -- there's no mention of regional restrictions in the press release. Skip past the break for start dates, end dates, and other details of the first tournament, then get practicing!

Make your pets hate you, win a Wii and Animal Crossing

If you have no interest in actually paying for a Wii and Animal Crossing: City Folk, Nintendo has your back. For the next three weeks, the company is encouraging people (North Americans only) to dress their pets in adorable outfits, and send photos of the unamused, uncomfortable animal(s) to this website. Come November 16th, the fifty best will win a Wii, a copy of Animal Crossing: City Folk, and a WiiSpeak microphone. Maybe this is the excuse you've needed to justify buying a pug?

The rules encourage an Animal Crossing theme, meaning the entries featured so far on the site are fairly rubbish, with most people just putting a hat on a disgruntled labrador. We sense our own idea is a winner. Protip, though: getting a necktie on a giraffe is hell.

Tetris Party tournaments commence December 1st [update]

Tetris Party only reaches the North American WiiWare service today, but already Hudson has started building hype by asking us to bring it in a bunch of tournaments based on the game.

Things kick off on December 1st, when the first of four separate contests will begin, but don't just think being nimble at classic Tetris is good enough -- any of Tetris Party's 18 modes could feature in these, which could be bad news for those not equipped with a Balance Board. No word on prizes yet, though something rare and very limited edition-esque would be lovely thanks, Hudson.

Update 1: A Hudson press release just revealed Tetris Party would drop in Europe and Australia this Friday!

Update: High Voltage just dished out a press release that talks about 16-player online gaming and WiiSpeak. It's been tucked past the break.

High Voltage has announced that they're holding a contest having to do with their upcoming game, The Conduit. They're asking fans to come up with their own control schemes for the game and submit them, with the winners getting their scheme put into the game. Sound exciting? We think so!

Head past the break for the full details on the contest.

Put a bit of yourself in Sonic and the Black Knight

You might be feeling disheartened about not hearing back from the organizers of the Little King's Story "UMA" Contest, a competition that gave fans a chance to have their art appear in the game. But don't pack your crayons away and sulk just yet, because Sega is offering the exact same prize for Sonic and the Black Knight.

If you're over 13 years of age, reside in the U.S. or Canada (there will be a European contest in the future), and are willing to draw Sonic or one of his awful friends, then get entering! If you're one of the twenty artists selected by Sega, your art will appear in the title, and you'll get a free copy of the game.

Did we say twenty? We meant nineteen. Naturally, we're super-duper drawers and color-inners, so you may be lucky enough to have your art placed next to ours in Sonic's world! That's right: we just asked you to bring it.

Create your own creature to appease Little King

Remember all those coloring contests when you were a kid? As you grew older, it became fun to scoff at the children's feeble attempts to color within the lines, and chortle at their crayon selection when a pencil was clearly the superior implement. Well, since we're all so great at drawing and coloring, it's probably a good idea to enter the Little King's Story "UMA" Contest.

A UMA is an Unidentified Mysterious Animal. Create one, and your entry is complete! Little King's Story features a whole range of wacky inhabitants, and one UMA entry will be chosen to become an in-game creature! The top 100 entries will also be featured at a museum within the kingdom.

Release some creative tension, because there is no limitation on what you can make -- be it an animal, person, entity, or even a higher plane of existence. Just keep it in this dimension, okay? Hit up the contest details, along with some sample creations, right here. Happy drawing, and good luck!

Highland Spring promo gives away Wii consoles in UK

As if the Wii needed any more advertising, a new joint venture between Nintendo and Highland Spring, a bottle water provider in the UK. Also, the promotion will feature tennis superstar Andy Murray, as well as the possibility for UK citizens to win a variety of prizes.

It will start in just over a month, in May of this year. One free Wii will be given away each week, with 32 finalists heading to Roehampton to meet Andy Murray. One lucky finalist will even get to test their abilities against him in a match of Wii Sports: Tennis.

You can enter via text message or by hitting up the official contest site right here.

Roto-Rooter wants to put a Wii in the loo

According to Roto-Rooter, the ultimate restroom for women is a place where you can simultaneously dry your hair, listen to music, bathe your feet, make (and then enjoy) a latte, and surf the Internet whilst seated upon the throne. They admit it's "excessive," and we find it pretty disgusting -- especially the latte bit. We do not want food of any kind prepared in the bathroom. But, really, the open secret of the "Pimped out Powder Room" sweepstakes is that once you've won, you can put bathroom-inappropriate prizes elsewhere. Leave the new toilet and bidet in, move the Wii and refrigerator out.

That is, unless you really want to play Wii on your new combination TV/mirror/heated towel rack.

Win a not-quite-Endless cruise from Nintendo

If you haven't already, you kids might want to point your cursors towards EndlessOcean.com. Although doing so will mean you have to endure a few seconds of Endless Ocean's God-awful Enya-esque soundtrack (while you scrabble around frantically for the 'Mute' button), it could be totally worth it. See, Nintendo and Norwegian Cruise Line have combined to generously offer three lucky people a seven-day Caribbean cruise for two, on board a ship that looks a lot like the one above.

It's all part of promoting Nintendo's casual gamer-friendly diving sim. Yours truly was rather grumbly about the game itself in our review but, y'know, free cruise. You can even enter once a day between now and February 29th, though if you're under 18 or not residing in the U.S., fuhgeddaboudit.

Circuit City giving away 21 Wiis

Sure, the chances of ever winning anything in a giveaway are slimmer than Kate Moss, but it never hurts to try. With that said, Circuit City (of the dot com variety) will be giving away one Wii per day from 12/2 (today) to 12/22. All you need to do to enter is put in your email, so at least the effort isn't too taxing for such a futile endeavor. Of course, you have to be a U.S. citizen (or in a U.S. territory or Puerto Rico) to take part in the sweepstakes (damn the law). Anyway, good luck to all who enter, we're sure you're going to need it.

Nintendo on the hunt for Brits with brains

Nintendo's latest marketing campaign contest across the pond has British families tossing their hats into the ring to see who's the best collective unit at Big Brain Academy. Families only need to report to one of these locations on the date listed, get up on stage and take their turn. Those who perform the best will then head on to the next stage of the contest, hoping to win university tuition, Wii consoles and 7-day holiday trips.

Are you and your family going to participate?

Rockstar's M-rated Wii console

My, is this Manhunt 2-themed Wii ever disgusting. If not for the fact that the Manhunt 2 logo is clearly visible, and the nominal stickering of the Nunchuk, it would look pretty much just like a blood-stained Wii. And Rockstar is betting that you'll find that cool enough to enter their Radio Rebellion Sweepstakes.

They're probably right, anyway. Limited-edition anything is a good way to get people's interest. Or free anything, for that matter. Did we mention you also get a 50" plasma TV?

While the Wii may not match our usual aesthetic, we still think it's a cool idea for a bizarre giveaway item, and another chance for Rockstar to capture some of the controversy they need to push copies of their game. Maybe later they'll release this as a skin for people who want the look, but already have a Wii. Or, we suppose, you could do it the old-fashioned way.

Harvey Birdman is dead-- who wants his stuff?

Want some Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law swag? Why, of course you do! To promote the new Harvey Birdman game, Capcom is holding a comic-creating contest featuring the show's cast.

Apparently (we, uh, didn't see it) Harvey died at the end of the show of being-hit-by-a-bus-driven-by-Phil-Ken-Sebben-related causes. The contest asks you to create a comic depicting your idea of what happens next. As Capcom puts it: "Is he dead? Is he back in court and trying to prove that he's still alive?" So don't just make three panels of a dead Birdman lying on the ground. That would be boring. We suggest talking and maybe movement.

Capcom is providing character art, backgrounds, and (unfortunately tiny) speech bubbles for you to employ in your cartooning. Should you cartoon successfully, you could win a Harvey Birdman DVD set, a bobble head, and other stuff!

Reminder: Super Paper Mario up for grabs

Hey, did you know we're trying to give one lucky reader a copy of Super Paper Mario? No, seriously, it's all going down right here. All one has to do is head to that post and leave a comment to be entered for a chance at winning the game. Simple enough, right? Well, it is, so head on over there and comment! Best of luck and, again, thanks for reading Wii Fanboy!

Atlus needs you to dress like Bonk

We don't know exactly what part Atlus played in the development of the Turbografx-16 mascot game, but their name is totally on the title screen, so we're totally making the suggestion to you! Should you happen to attend this year's Anime Expo event in Long Beach, California, you can take part in an Atlus costume contest! As Bonk, obviously!

The company will hand out mysterious prizes to the person with the best costume based on an Atlus character. The convention runs from June 29th to July 2nd, so you'd better start sewing that singlet! All of the Bonks, and other attendees, will also get a chance to see upcoming games at a panel discussion on Sunday, July 1st.

You could go as the doctor guy from Trauma Center, or even, we guess, a character from a game that's not on the Wii, but trust us on this one. Giant-headed caveman trumps anime doctor every time.
