Toys R Us having trouble honoring Wii deal?

As you all know, there's a decent sale going on at Toys R Us. Now, the deal is supposed to include Wii Fit, and even shows it in the bundle of applicable titles on their website (click here for screen grab), but, according to one of our readers, store employees may not be hip to their own employer's sale. Our good friend Zachary was, in fact, denied Wii Fit as part of this sale.

According to the screen grab, as well as their circular (which also lists Wii Fit as eligible), Toys R Us should be including this in their sale. So when reader Zachary showed up without either, they would not allow him to include Wii Fit into the mix. Your best bet, both Zachary and our eyes, is to go down to your local shop with one of these in hand and, if they aren't willing to comply then, always ask for a manager. Hopefully he/she will be a bit more knowledgable than the regular staff.

Oh, and if you're looking for another game to pair up with Wii Fit, we'd suggest you check out Boom Blox.

[Thanks, Zachary!]

Toys R Us offers buy one, get $20 off deal

Wii owners should head over to Toys R Us next week (or, toysrus.com), as the retailer is having a good deal on Wii titles. From 8/3-8/9 (and even starting earlier in select stores, according to ads), if you buy a Wii game that costs $29.99 or more, you'll get $20 off a second Wii game.

Fortunately this deal includes games with peripherals, like Wii Play, Wii Fit, DDR, and Guitar Hero. That is, of course, if you can actually find said games (silly old Wii Fit) in stock.

Does anyone plan to use this deal to pick up a long desired title?

Major savings on Amazon this Friday

Deals of the day? They're great. Gold Boxes? Even better.

Amazon is outdoing itself this Friday, though, by offering nine -- yes, nine -- deals for cheap gamers like ourselves. Aside from the "Deal of the Day" (which will go up at 12am PST, as usual), the online retailer will present eight lightning deals throughout the day. Starting at 6am PST, each deal will run for two hours, with the last occurring at 8pm.

Note: The Gold Box says "Nintendo" sales, so while we bet there will be at least one Wii game on sale, there might be other hardware, software, or accessories on Amazon's plate. Either way, we'll keep you posted on Friday.

[Thanks, sn1per!]

Pick up a $10 gift card by purchasing Blast Works

We're still shocked that Blast Works finally came out after all those delays (and according to a few emails that we've been getting from you guys, some retailers are also feeling disbelief). If you can manage to track down this content-packed shooter, though, we recommend trying your luck at Circuit City. This week, the folks at the good ol' city of circuits will hand you a nice $10 gift card with a purchase of Blast Works. Yet, don't fret if you're having trouble finding this game at brick and mortar locations, since you can also head to the retailer's online store.

For a game that's only $40 to begin with, we have to say -- this deal is mighty tempting. Any takers?

NiGHTS: Journey of a cheap game

If you're buying a GameCube controller at Amazon, why not buy a cheap Wii game to go with it?

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is now marked down to $20.09 at the online retailer, which is a hard-to-resist price for an unused copy of Sega's game. Although it didn't get the best reviews, twenty dollars isn't a lot to ask when it comes to reliving a beloved franchise.

Does anyone who owns NiGHTS want to make a recommendation for or against it?

Amazon gives reasons to buy Brawl and Guitar Hero if you don't own them yet

It's not often that we find great deals on big-name titles, especially two on the same day, but perhaps you were feeling lucky, punk, and the fickle game deal gods decided to reign their glory upon you.

Behind door number one, we have Super Smash Bros. Brawl for $48.99! Okay, we're just joshing you (not about the price, since it is marked down a dollar, but that's not what we're excited about). Rather, with a purchase of Brawl, Amazon is offering a $10 gift card. Around these parts, an Amazon gift card is as good as cash, so those of you who are Brawl-less (in North America) should consider getting your rumble on.

The other deal is for Guitar Hero III, which has been on sale before, but usually as a "Deal of the Day." We're not sure how long this particular sale will last, but if you want $20 off your Guitar Hero purchase, you can get it for $69.99 (also at Amazon).

Of course, there is one bad thing about popular games getting deals; the chances are high that everyone already has them.

Wii's Sunday bargain bin

We love Sundays, as there are always new game sales to look forward to. Luckily, this week there are some sweet deals on a few Wii titles. Scouring through the ad listings at Cheap Ass Gamer, the ones we found of interest include:
  • Okami for $29.99 at Best Buy
  • Boom Blox with a free $10 gift card at Circuit City and Target
  • Speed Racer for $29.99 at Target
Keep in mind that while Circuit City offers its deals online, Best Buy and Target's are brick and mortar only. Also, Target deals vary by region, so the ones above may or may not apply to stores near you.

Murder training for cheap at Amazon

Remember all the controversy over Manhunt 2? Now it might be time to see what all the fuss was about, as Amazon has it marked down to $19.99 (for today only). Most people who've played the game would probably agree that it's not worth a purchase at full price, but at half its cost you might be a little bit tempted -- if you're a crazy homicidal murderer, that is, or wish to become one. After all, those are the only kind of people who play Manhunt 2, right?

Also, we think it's a bit of a strange choice for Amazon to offer as a deal. We wonder if they'll be getting an angry letter from Jack Thompson any time soon.

Walmart fattens Wii Fit with $10 gift card

With preorders already sold out at Amazon, we can bet that Wii Fit will share the same success in North America that the game has seen in Europe and Japan. But, is it just soccer moms and casual gamers who are spending the hefty $90 for this nongame, or do readers like you have an interest in the product as well?

While some core gamers might not have succumbed to the Wii Fit hype, we're sure quite a few of you are more than intrigued by Nintendo's latest innovation. If so, you might be interested to know that Walmart is offering a $10 gift card with Wii Fit preorders. Of course, since shipping and tax will amount to more than $10, you're not actually saving anything. Yet, should you want to avoid the angry mom rush in brick and mortar stores and get something in return for your troubles, it might not be too bad of an idea to take advantage of this offer.

If you're considering this deal, just keep in mind that it ends on May 11th (or possibly earlier if Walmart runs out of stock).

Super Paper price cut

Paper Mario might not be our favorite franchise, but it's definitely a key staple in Nintendo's repertoire. If you don't have the Wii's Super Paper Mario, then, you might want to consider getting it -- especially since Amazon dropped it's price by $10. As per usual, this Amazon price cut is without rhyme or reason (it may be permanent, it may not be), so we recommend taking advantage of it while you still can should this deal interest you.

We can imagine, though, that your plate of Nintendo games might be pretty full from some recent releases and upcoming titles.

Guitar Hero III still on sale at Amazon

You may have missed out on Amazon's Gold Box deals, but the online retailer is still selling Guitar Hero III for cheap. Sure, it's not as cheap, but it's $15 off the MSRP, nonetheless.

Since the Les Paul guitar will cost you $59.99 alone, buying the set for $74.99 isn't too bad of a deal. Also, it seems that Amazon is selling the fixed edition of the game, so you won't have to worry about mono sound issues or future disc swapping with your purchase.

[Thanks, David!]

Cheap accessories may await you at Wal-Mart

A GoNintendo reader snapped this amazingly tantalizing picture of $10 Wii accessory bundles at his local Wal-Mart. For half the price of just the accessory, shoppers at this particular store can get a bundle containing a Nunchuk, 2000 Wii Points card, or a Classic Controller, along with a controller cover. So that's more than you usually get, for much less than it normally costs.

No doubt these are holiday bundles being clearanced out simply because it's not the holidays anymore, but Wal-Mart's poor judgment can definitely be to your benefit. Be warned that Wal-Mart deals vary from store to store, and there's a fairly high probability that your store will either have a different price on these or won't carry them at all. But if you happen to be going to Wal-Mart anyway, which we hear happens occasionally with a lot of people, it may be worth your time to check out the electronics section!

You might score a Wii on Amazon for $79

Amazon is holding its annual "Customers Vote" promotion, and this year you might be able to score a great deal on a Wii. Round 1 of "Customers Vote" includes a choice between a Wii for $79, an Xbox 360 Arcade for $99, or a 40GB PS3 for $139. You have to be an Amazon member to vote for the deal you would like. If you vote for the winning product, you have a chance to be one of the 1,000 people randomly selected by Amazon to purchase it at the promotion price on Thanksgiving (November 22).

Sure, you'll have to be really, super, awesomely lucky as we expect tons of people will be voting, but well, it's worth a shot.

As of writing this, the Wii was leading the vote with 55%. The PS3 was in second with 32%, while the Xbox Arcade trailed with 13%. With the popularity of the Wii and the expected shortages this holiday season, it's not hard to believe that the Wii will get the most votes.

Cha-Ching! WarioWare: Smooth Moves for $25

This item has been going in and out stock all morning, so it will require a bit of patience and providence to take advantage of this one-day deal at Amazon. If you don't mind spending the rest of your day watching the product page, however, WarioWare: Smooth Moves could be yours for only $25 (s/h included), half of its regular price! Just think of it as another minigame -- every click on your browser's reload button is another opportunity for you to win! Bwahahaha!

[Thanks, Adam!]

Fire Sale: First-party component cables

"Oh my God! We're having a fire! ... sale. Oh, the burning!"

It's been only a month since Amazon last hosted its half-off sale on Nintendo's component cables, but the online shop is already at it again with an even deeper discount for today's one-day deal. The first-party cables are listed at $12.99, the lowest we've ever seen them sold for! Of course, Amazon will ship its goods to you at no extra cost if your order totals over $25.

Though this doesn't technically qualify as a "fire sale," we couldn't stay our hand at the chance to make an Arrested Development reference. Stop, drop, and roll past the post break for a video of Tobias Funke auditioning for a fire sale commercial.
