Destroy all trailers

Man, this Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed lays on the topical humor, and thick. Apparently this time Crypto is charged with stopping a Patty Hearst parody from inciting public outrage against the aliens' Big Willy's fast-food franchise, which, of course, was created to serve man. Apparently fast food is bad for you! On top of all of the cultural references is a layer of self-referential humor which is less than subtle: Crypto's boss Pox refers to his "previous video game adventures," and the two riff on the 'blink, then disappear' death style common in games.

If there's anything of which all should be destroyed, it's the Jack Nicholson impression used for Crypto's voice.

de Layed

Due to lower-than-expected ratings and sales performance of their racing games Stuntman: Ignition and Juiced: Hot Import Nights, THQ has decided to delay some of their upcoming games into the next fiscal year, which starts on April 1st. This includes de Blob, the former Utrecht School of the Arts student project, which is being delayed in order to put more work in.

According to THQ CEO Brian Ferrell, the company is now treating de Blob as something of a flagship product, describing it as "less of a pick up title, and more of a franchise." Ferrell said that the extra time will be used to make the game "look more like a Nintendo-level Wii product." We are more than impressed with THQ's commitment to this unique title, and we wish more companies would take this kind of time with their ports. Strangely, it seems to be the games based on PC freeware that are getting the most care in their Wiimakes.

Bloom-light all aliens

The new Destroy All Humans! prequel, Big Willy Unleashed, seems to follow the same formula as the two previous games: humans get destroyed in hilarious and sadistic ways. However, the new game adds two twists to the formula.

First, alien anti-hero Crypto will have the use of a Big Boy-esque walking mech, the "Big Willy" mentioned in the juvenile title (and not Will Smith). Second, the game has been bloom-lit into infinity, creating the distinct appearance of a TV screen smeared with Vaseline. But who are we to complain about little things like overuse of "next gen" lighting effects, when there are humans who need a firm destroying?

German magazine reveals new THQ games to All Humans

A game magazine called Maniac has some exclusive screens and info from THQ about one new franchise and one old one, both headed to the Wii.

De Blob is a Wii exclusive about a blob (obviously) that, by rolling around in paint then rolling around on stuff, adds color to a dull environment. It seems to be based on an indie PC game called The Blob. Destroy All Humans 3, also coming to PS2, PSP, 360, and PS3 is about destroying all humans, which shamefully didn't get done the first two times. We guess Pandemic changed their minds about the Wii.

Children's game coming from Pandemic?

Pandemic Studios, best known for big-kid games like Destroy All Humans and Full Spectrum Warrior, are working on a new children's game for Wii. According to a quote on Business Week's website from Pandemic Chief Executive Andrew Goldman, the game is the reflection of a desire to do something fresh and offer new gameplay, in a medium that they see as becoming stale. "The Wii does something new, and draws people back in."

We have to wonder, is it really wise to go on record with sound bites like that as they're promoting their Xbox 360/PS2/PS3/PC war game Mercenaries 2: World in Flames? We suppose it will sell anyway.
