Nintendo joins the rest of the world in not welcoming Hitler

"No online racing for you!' That's the message Nintendo is sending to Mario Kart Wii owners hoping to race their Hitler Miis on its Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Any attempt to bring a Mii sharing the German dictator's name online for Mario Kart Wii will be met with the following error: "You cannot access Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection using this Mii name. Please change your Mii name and try again." Presumably, you should still be able to race with a Mii bearing Hitler's likeness while using a different name. You know, if drifting through Moo Moo Meadows as the architect of the Holocaust is your idea of fun.

According to initial tests, Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini, and several other dictator jerks are not currently banned. Really, though, when was the last time you ran into someone using a Mii of Robert Mugabe.

Virtually Overlooked: Bionic Commando

Welcome to our weekly feature, Virtually Overlooked, wherein we talk about games that aren't on the Virtual Console yet, but should be. Call it a retro-speculative.

This is the second time that Bionic Commando has been the inspiration for a Virtually Overlooked column. And just like the last time, I'm not really going to talk much about Bionic Commando's gameplay! As well-known as this masterpiece is, I may as well be describing an obscure Russian game about making horizontal lines out of falling blocks. You've played Bionic Commando. Dude with metal arm swings around, shoots soldiers. Nerds get the heck out of the way.

Instead, I'm going to focus on the issue of its absence from the Virtual Console, and a possible (sensationalist) reason for that omission: A reason called Adolf Hitler.

Mii on a Tee

Cute.Mii on a Tee can hang right next to your Snakes on a Plane shirt in your closet. You've fabricated Miis of yourself, Hitler, your significant other, your neighbor, and Jesus (in that order). Why not display your creations for the world to see?

Pick a color, pick a size, and send off your Mii to creepy leprechauns via Wii-mail or digital photograph, and you've got yourself a bonafide shirt just dripping with fanboy-idity. People will then begin to question your sanity, financial decisions, and why they themselves don't yet have one. Make us proud, guys!
