We're about as nerdy about NES games as one can get without becoming a ruined shell of an eBay addict, but we're pretty sure we'd get self-conscious about walking around with this Legend of Zelda overworld map belt on. But, then, we'd be more self-conscious about walking around with no pantal support at all. Alas, this belt is for ladies only, so we won't be testing our love of Zelda and secure pants against our modesty.
The belt will be available for sale on the 27th, at a special price of $15. Boy, this is really not expensive!

For such a popular console that tries to offer something for everyone, the Wii also manages to be somewhat controversial -- and we're not just talking about Manhunt 2 here. The motion-sensing controls have been a bone of contention when it comes to nearly every game, even those people seem to enjoy. Some gamers find them awesome, and others ... not so much. We've selected six games which cover a range of game types (and aren't all first-party, either) as a measuring stick of what you think is best when it comes to Wii controls. We encourage you to vote early (and often!), but feel free to talk about other choices in the comments, as well as the reasons behind your picks.
You might have noticed that Wii Sports isn't on this list (and neither are several other well-received games!). We considered including it, because not everyone agrees that it works quite well as a showcase of the Wii control capabilities, but decided at the last minutes to include only non-bundled games. Feel free to voice your support for Wii Sports in the comments, however!

For those of you who still aren't hip to the workings of a thereminvox, it's a fully electronic musical instrument with two antennas that control pitch and volume. Designed to be played without ever being touched, its harmonies have been described as "music from the ether." Sounds wild? This was all dreamed up by Russian physicist Lev Termen in 1919. If you're lucky enough to have a Hastings store nearby, the entertainment retailer is offering to exchange your moth-eaten copies of Super Paper Mario or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for a waggle-fied edition of Resident Evil 4. They'll also accept Rainbow Six Vegas (360) and God of War II (PS2), but not without scowling at you first.
According to the rest of Hastings's weekly ad, there's a buy-1-get-2nd-for-free sale on body jewelry, so be on the look out for that deal too! Apparently, yes, as the soon-to-be released set of trading cards will feature none other than Link and gang when it hits retail shelves sometime in the future. The set, which features a total of 86 different cards, does not have a release date at this time, but will only set you back $1.99 per pack. Each pack contains 3 standard cards, 1 special foil card, 1 tattoo card, and 1 sweepstakes card (win a Wii kind of thing).
We'd probably have enjoyed it more if Twilight Princess could be turned into a trading card game, but anything else we can get our hands on to remind us how amazing that game is, well ... we won't complain.
This quilt from Craftster member dishwasher182 combines two of our favorite things in life: The originalLegend of Zelda and being warm while sleeping. We aren't sure how we'd rank those two things.
Maybe we should start quilting, so we can have our own enormous pixel-perfect Link holding a very ziggurat-esque Triforce. But we aren't sure we're up to the challenge of cutting and sewing together over 400 squares. In fact, we know we aren't. We're exhausted from reaching up to the number keys just now.

After this morning's news, we hoped that the U.S. would see The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Virtual Console soon, but we'd only prayed that it might come as soon as Monday. Those prayers, it seems, have been answered. For a mere $10, gamers will be able to relive -- and for some, experience for the first time -- one of the most acclaimed experiences in gaming history.
Today's news: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time hits the Virtual Console in Europe, and every gamer in Japan and the U.S. shakes their fist and curses Nintendo. What a coup! It seems like things are really hot and cold for Europe when it comes to gaming. Usually, gamers have to pace around, waiting for games and systems that are months delayed, but when you guys get something early, it tends to be pretty awesome.
So ... you downloading it today? OoT isn't cheap by VC standards, but is that much to pay for what many consider to be one of the best video games of all time?

Even after the day, the spirit of President's Day (sure, why not) continues in Videoland. Zelda Dimension posted this picture of a painting found on a wall in Zelda: Twilight Princess, and it looks an awful lot like Thomas Jefferson ... or maybe George Washington? Or maybe dust? Apparently, one of the NPCs is a student of American history.
We love finding secrets in Zelda, but we don't like being confronted with a blurry texture in a Wii game. Maybe the Zelda Dimension blogger was using composite cables, and that's why the picture is blurry? Yeah, that's the ticket!
We look forward to seeing the Zelda timeline theorists chew on this one.
It's about time we saw an adult Link figurine! We got kinda tired of looking at Skull Kid and Fierce Deity Link standing on our shelf all alone. Yeah, we are the losers who dropped too much money for these guys. And yes, we do still live with our mother. So what?
The Hero of Time proudly carries the Master Sword in his left hand (the way it should be -- no offense Twilight Princess) and looks like he us ready for some good 'ol Ganon slaying. Got $110 with nothing better to spend it on? We've got you covered.
What do you get when you take a bloke obsessed with Zelda and too much money? A real-life Master Sword, straight from Scotland. The blacksmiths over at Castle Keep took several designs and artwork of the Master Sword from fanatic Paul Hantschel and prepared to forge. Almost a year and $3,300 later, Paul received one of the most famous weapons in gaming history. Now it is time for him to don the traditional green tunic and take on the greatest task gamers have faced for nearly 20 years.
Following the break is a ginormous image of the real-life Master Sword in all its Tektite slashing glory. You are allowed to drool for a moment before remembering how much he paid for an item that it will probably do no more than sit on a mantle or be sold on eBay after its glitter has vanished.
It's likely that you've seen one or even all of the Zelda retrospectives at GameTrailers, but we wanted to collect them here for ease of viewing on those long winter evenings. They've done a really fantastic job of chronicling what truly has become an epic adventure -- perhaps even, for us, one of the foremost fantasy tales of our lives. Even if you're not a huge fan of the series, it's likely that you know some things about Link; that he is out to save Hyrule, that he favors green, and that his story is tangled with that of a certain princess.
It's so strange to think of The Legend of Zelda as spanning twenty years (especially to those of us who clearly remember playing the original ...), but watching these retrospectives, one begins to feel the time that has passed, because the story of Link has become a part of us, alongside the other fairy tales with which we grew up. Link is a modern hero and his never-ending quest, in every form, is ours as well.

The reviews are rolling in, and it's safe to say at this point that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is going to be a megahit. Reviewers everywhere are bestowing high-to-perfect scores on Link's latest, and many are already declaring it the best entry in the series. And considering the series, that's a bold statement. But there's one word that keeps popping up in these reviews: fantastic. And that's some of the best news we've heard in a long time.
1UP - 100%: Twilight Princess is something you rarely see: a 60-hour adventure in which every moment is memorable. But then, maybe that's no surprise -- it represents the full resources and effort of the world's most powerful first-party developer, and thanks to all those delays, it's even enjoyed an extra year of polish and refinement. The question to ask therefore isn't "Is it any good?" but rather "Just how good is it?"
Oh, agony. Those not fortunate enough to playZelda: Twilight Princess must settle for spoiler videos. While most are patient enough to wait to see plot points of the game when they play it, the rest of us can't help ourselves. We almost mess our pants at the mere mention of the game so you can imagine what happens when we find videos such as this.
