MOH: Heroes 2 trailer has one man taking down all of Germany

For all of you who aren't burnt out on WWII FPS titles, the latest trailer for EA's upcoming Medal of Honor Heroes 2 should tickle that fancy of yours. It reminds us of the Time Crisis franchise and Sega's Virtua Cop series, only you just shoot nazis. And, based on the trailer, it looks like you're going to be shooting a lot of them. Like, ridiculous lots.

Wii Warm Up: A different shooter

We spent all last week talking about Metroid Prime 3, so let's pick up with something not-so-completely different: Medal of Honors: Heroes 2. Early word on this game is nothing short of amazing. Screenshots that have us a little impressed. 32-person (!) online multiplayer. But best of all? Word is that the controls are awesome, and that's what really matters. It looks like EA is really sinking their teeth into the Wii, from their special control schemes to their game choices. We never thought we'd say this, but they're shaping up to be one of our favorite developers this cycle.

IGN's Matt Casamassina recently spent some quality time with the latest Medal of Honor title and has nothing but praise for it. Apparently it even adds a little something to the WWII game, which is good news; we're starting to think that developers have forgotten every other war in history. He does lament the on-rails aspect of Arcade Mode, but says everything else (i.e., the shooting part of the shooting game) is worth playing. The more free-flowing Campaign Mode, however, moves beyond simply "worth playing" and into "rivals Metroid," which piques our interest something fierce. So let's talk. Are you into this one? Has it cropped up on your radar now? Or are you skeptical until you see more on it?

Get a load of Medal of Honor: Heroes 2

The upcoming Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 is slated to have the one thing that many gamers consider important for the franchise: online play. But from the newly-released shots, it's got something else as well -- a pretty good look! Looks like EA put a little something extra into art direction to maximize the Wii's capabilities (unless there's something else afoot), and we like the effect. Maybe this means we can start looking forward to some better looking titles.

Because you need to know more about Medal of Honor

Curious about Medal of Honor: Vanguard and just how it's going to play on the Wii? You know we're here for you! After the jump you'll find a video that not only shows off some of the gameplay footage, but gives you a little rundown on how to pull off the maneuvers with the Wii remote. Now if only we could magic some online play in there! Unfortunately, our powers are limited.

And as a small bit of trivia that is completely worthless to you, this very blogger shares the root of her name with one of the weapons in the game.

Coming soon to a Wii near you

So what makes a drought? When our cohorts at Joystiq posted the following -- Nintendo's official word on the upcoming sixteen games that will round out Q1, there was some discussion regarding whether a library of 40 titles constitutes a deluge or a drought. Here's the list, per Nintendo:
  • Feb. 14 Wii Play with Wii Remote
  • Mar. 27 Disney's Meet the Robinsons
  • Mar. Bust-A-Move Bash
  • Mar. Prince of Persia Rival Swords
  • Mar. TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
  • Mar. Bionicle Heroes
  • Mar. Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII
  • Q1 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
  • Q1 SSX Blur
  • Q1 The Godfather Blackhand Edition
  • Q1 Medal of Honor: Vanguard
  • Q1 Sonic and the Secret Rings
So there's the obvious question of how you feel about the way the Wii's library is shaping up, but the deeper question is ... how many games do we need? It seems most of us would rather have skinnier libraries with nothing but quality games than a new subpar sports title or FPS every week. We're not sure that every one of these titles is gonna reflect the quality we'd like to see, but it doesn't seem thin.

Last, but not at all least, you may notice that we didn't include Mario Party 8, which is apparently slated for March 5. Since it wasn't on Nintendo's list, we left it out here, but that date is still listed on Nintendo's official site.
