WRUP: Certainly not Alone in the Dark edition

Click for hi-res image

How do we know you aren't playing Alone in the Dark? Because nobody is playing Alone in the Dark. Seriously, we can't find any reviews for the Wii version anywhere. So, with that, we wonder what exactly are you playing? There's plenty of new games to choose from this week.

What are you playing?

Nintendads? Father-son Brawl tournament

Nothing shows Dad your life-long appreciation more than kicking his butt at Super Smash Bros. Brawl, further affirming to him that he is now a lost soul in a whole world of new technology. Well, that could be the case, but plenty of parents have proven their dedication to gaming in the past, so the chil'n may not have the upper hand.

Stroll on down to the Nintendo World store in New York City on Father's Day for an official Brawl tournament, where fathers and sons will engage in battle, bond lovingly, and question each other's sexuality upon choosing Peach or Zelda.

Save any household fussin' and feudin' for the tournament, as pent-up male rage is set to explode in an ocean of umbrellas, star wands and banana peels. Nintendo is awarding two Wii consoles, two copies of Brawl and a winner's trophy for whichever dynamic duo takes the tournament crown. All the action goes down from 1 - 4pm on Sunday, June 15.

Don't fear these new screens from Alone in the Dark

Atari has dished out some new screens from upcoming title Alone in the Dark. Most of the shots feature protagonist Edward Carnby navigating dark and spooky environments. We even get a glimpse of old Ed's car, as he speeds around the abandoned streets bordering Central Park. Personally, we like a good scare every now and then. What about you?

You can check out the new images in our gallery below.

Get a cab ride on Nintendo tomorrow

New York City residents, you might want to forget your walking shoes come tomorrow. If you find yourself anywhere around the Sheraton Hotel (811 7th Ave., between 52nd and 53rd streets) between 8:00 and 10:00 am or 12:00 and 2:00 pm, then take note: Nintendo will be offering free cab rides in celebration of the release of Mario Kart Wii. Sounds like a sweet deal to us!

Of course, we have the problem of not living in New York City keeping us from enjoying a free ride in the back of a cab. We wish we could partake, believe us. It sure beats riding in the back of our usual transportation.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows coming to Wii

Keep in mind, this is not the Wii version

Take note, webheads: a new Spidey game is being made for the Wii (along with those other systems nobody cares about). It's called Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and will once again feature the tried-and-true sandbox mechanic of a fully-explorable New York City. Other than that, we know that the game is being worked on by Treyarch and Shaba Games and will feature some kind of system that allows for customizable superpowers. Also, players will have some control in determining whether they want to be the boyscout do-gooder or a more selfish anti-hero type.

Perhaps even cooler than the news of there being a new game is word that Activision will be holding auditions for folks to do the voiceover work in the game at their booth at the upcoming New York Comic-Con. The winner will be determined by open voting, which will go down at the game's official website here.

One place in the U.S. is still getting Wiis daily

As the guillotine's blade falls ever closer to your neck (see: Christmas is right around the corner), you might be in a panic that you're not going to get that Wii for your loved one. It sucks, we know. But, if you live in or around the New York city area, there's one place that's getting Wii shipments on a daily basis: the Nintendo World Store.

New York City's Rockefeller Center is no stranger to crowds. But, it's been commented that multiple people have been lining up outside of the Nintendo World Store each morning, as the news of consoles being seen at the store each morning gets passed around, with "at least 20 [Wiis] lined up behind the main counter. Just Wii boxes waiting for the next person in line." Bag, please open and release cat.

If you live in the city, you might want to check this out. Any of our NYC readers planning on doing this? Did you get your Wii from the Nintendo World Store?
