Impressive Falco papercraft doesn't even look like paper

It may not be a tiny gaming console or an incredible Wolf Link, but it's still really impressive. Actually, you know what? This might beat both of them! Well, maybe not Wolf Link. That thing is nice.

The piece of papercraft was modeled after the Falco model used in Smash Bros. Brawl. Whether you're a Smash or Star Fox fan, you've got to appreciate how good this thing looks.

We can hardly believe it's made of paper! If you're looking to try this yourself, this is the link to the necessary stuff to get your started.

Earthbound cubeecraft is out of this world

Even with its ESRB rating, we can't help but be skeptical about Earthbound descending onto the Virtual Console. While we'd like nothing more, it seems too good to be true that Starmen.net's hard-fought battle to get the game on the VC would finally end in victory. As we've also mentioned, an ESRB rating does not necessarily equate to a Virtual Console release.

Since all we can do now is wait and see, we have to find Earthbound related ways to keep ourselves busy. Aside from playing games like Smash Bros., we thought we'd try our hand at some Earthbound cubeecraft (aka papercraft). Is it just us, or does Mr. Saturn look rather swank when shaped like a cube?

Super Nintendo Paper System

While not quite as ickle or adorable as the tiny clay NES that had Candace in full-on squeal mode recently, this papercraft SNES is still capable of melting the heart of the most unfeeling gamer. It's the work of deviantART user ryo007, who wisely points out that while other consoles have been rendered in paper, the SNES has, until now, been forgotten about by papercrafters.

Our favorite part of this? Those cute-as-all-heck tiny pads and game cartridges! If they had cheeks, we'd pinch them (and then probably crush them with our clumsy, sausage-like fingers).

Wii Warm Up: BLOX head

We're beginning to warm to the idea of a puzzle game based on knocking over a tower of blocks (or BLOX -- nah, blocks). With certain blocks providing special effects (like 'splosions), and the ability to create and share your own structures, there might be a solid puzzler in here, or at least more than just a game about busting stacks of stuff. Plus the block characters are really cute -- so cute that someone has already been inspired to create a papercraft model of the rooster character.

Are you slowly coming aboard the BOOM BLOX not-quite-hype-but-at-least-not-disgust train? Have you always been down for some block booming? Or are you outraged that Steven Spielberg's concept for a Wii game doesn't seem to include much in the way of narrative?

This Thwomp won't crush you

Wow. Just ... wow. That is an amazing piece of art and to think it is made from just paper. That's the kind of piece we would pay good money for, but lucky us we don't have to. See, the instructions to make our very own Thwomp (Super Mario Galaxy version) are available online.

Any of you out there planning on making your own? Any of you successfully make one?

Tiny Wii, paper-style

We continue to be intrigued by papercraft, and when there are slick projects like this, how can you blame us? Look, there's even a tiny Wii Sports disc. Now if only we had tiny hands and arms, we could snap on our tiny flaps (so they don't get lost), pick up our tiny Wiimotes, and make some tiny Miis. We've already got the perfect television picked out and ready to go.

Papercraft Wii, possibly photographed with papercraft camera

Yes, the picture quality is very rough! The guy's camera must have been made out of paper itself-- or maybe it was a camera-shaped cake that could only take real pictures by a freak accident. Alternately, it could have been a cell phone.

But even in low detail, you get the idea. A crafter named Patrick made a tiny papercraft Wii and Wiimote that any strong waggle could blow away. It would make a nice companion piece to that teensy TV from earlier this year. Now if only we could get the template, so we could amass an army of non-functioning Mini-Wiis.

Radio Allergy cancelled

Radio Allergy, Milestone's "Wii Compatible" shooter for the Gamecube, has finally been canned by publisher O3 Interactive after months of delays. We like cel-shading, and we like shooters, so we're a little sad. In a statement to Cubed3, O3 said that there was a hope of putting Radio Allergy on the Wii. No plan, but a hope.

Aeropause then speculated that this hypothetical Wii release would be bundled with Karous, the current "last Dreamcast game ever" from Milestone, or-- even better, both Karous and Chaos Field, Milestone's first "last Dreamcast game ever." We do like the idea of more games, but we don't have any evidence of that right now. All we know is that we aren't getting Radio Allergy any time soon. At least we can all download the papercraft patterns from the Japanese website! Video game papercraft beats actual video games every time.

Arts and crafts at its finest: Wolf Link

The above piece of papercraft (which is Link in his wolf form from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) was lovingly sculpted by webshots user ninjatoes and leaves us with an immense feeling of desire for one of our own. Oh, what are we to do? Wait, we could just use the included instructions and make one ourselves, but of course that would mean we'd need:
  • to be unchained
  • left in a room with sunlight for more than 30 seconds
Now, of course such things are impossible (damn our warden), but we can dream ...
