Wii and friends: A Great Match

Why do we love the Wii with friends? Because we want all to share the splendor and majesty that comes from playing the best home gaming console around. So that's why we set out to bring you a nice, easy package of great multiplayer games for the Wii.

Both online and local multiplayer is covered, as well as games that have released and those that are still in production. We hope you find this useful in your own life, in some small way, or at least a good place to link a friend who has no idea what they're getting into with the Wii. WRUP: Many, many, many games edition

We tried to gauge interest in Pokemon Battle Revolution, as well as the general feel of the Wi-Fi approach, while playing some Tetris DS at Game Night yesterday. But, if that ain't your cup of tea, there are plenty of other games available to hungry Wii owners, including The Bigs, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Driver Parallel Lines. There's just so much to choose from!

What are you planning on playing? Will you be picking up one of these new games? Will you be taking your pokemans online?

Wii Warm Up: Half a game

We don't think this is a controversial statement, although feel free to skewer us in the comments if it is: Pokemon Battle Revolution is not worth having if you don't own and play Pokemon on the DS. If we really wanted to arouse some vitriol, we'd say it's not worth having even then, but that would really just be flame-baiting for its own sake. We don't even actually feel that way.

What we want to know is, is it okay in your mind to have a game like this that absolutely depends on another game to be fun? It it okay for such a thing to be full price?

Obviously, if you're of the "gotta catch 'em all" persuasion who buys every Pokemon game regardless of quality, your answer is going to be a little different.

Like the Pokerap, but it doesn't rhyme and has no music

If you'd like a crash course on the 107 new Pokemon in the Diamond/Pearl generation, which includes the new DS games and Pokemon Battle Revolution, then this GamesRadar article might come in handy. It's an exhaustive Pokedex of the new creatures, and includes name, type, abilities, location, and information about evolution.

What strikes us as we look at this list is how weird the names of Pokemon have gotten. Maybe it's because we've had ten years or so to get used to the older names, but the new ones are jarringly nonsensical. See Bidoof above.

Unfortunately, Game|Life's Chris Kohler beat us to the "Let Me Show You Them" headline for his post about the article. We'll try to get the next one!

Nintendo reminds us Pokemon Battle Revolution will be first WFC game

Nintendo must know that online functionality is on everyone's minds as they sent out a press release today, reminding us that the upcoming Pokemon Battle Revolution will be the first game to support Wi-Fi Connect gameplay. Not only that, but they reminded us that it'll also be the first:
  • Pokemon game on the Wii
  • Game that allows the Wii and DS to link together
  • Wii game that allows the player to control it with the DS
Of course, you all knew about the importing features that will allow Pokemon Diamond & Pearl players to bring their heavy hitters into Battle Revolution, so nothing new from Nintendo there. We'll be sure to update you all as news develops.
