Down at the Ranch with Penny Arcade

Is gazing at your precious Pokemans in glorified Pokémon display cabinet My Pokémon Ranch just not enough for you? Do you get sick of their cloying, sweet little faces? Do you yearn to see the little so-and-sos endure the same painful, hard knock life that you had to endure? Do you wish that once -- just once -- they were exposed to a slice of cruel, heartless reality?

If so, know that Gabe of Penny Arcade fame is right with you! Hit the picture on the right for the latest strip -- it's a corker.

No Penny Arcade adventures for Wii owners after all

The dream was nice while it lasted, guys. It looks like that there's no chance for the Penny Arcade game to make it to us via WiiWare, at least, not unless something changes. After comic co-creator Mike Krahulik gushed about his hopes for the game to appear on Nintendo's service last November, Vlad Ceraldi of developer Hothead Games has axed the possibility. "Until the size restriction is increased, the game will not be going to WiiWare. Sorry."

Penny Arcade Adventures
is apparently pretty large even among XBLA releases, so this isn't terribly surprising news, but it is a little disappointing to know we just missed bringing our Wii remotes to Gabe and Tycho's party.

Penny Arcade's eyeful of Boom Blox

Much like we were, Penny Arcade was driven into a frenzy of Blox-booming desire by the recent Boom Blox preview video. What sounded at first like a mildly diverting concept has become the kind of thing we'd basically want to play all the time.

Tycho's enthusiasm for Steven Spielberg's latest (thing he's attached to in some unclear way) goes beyond wanting to play the game constantly. The fictional character based on the Penny Arcade writer wants to play Boom Blox not just while the Wii's on, but the rest of the time -- and meets with a somewhat unpleasant user experience with the "tabletop version" of the game. They're called Boom Blox and not Tumble Harmlessly Blox, after all.

Gabe and Tycho may have a Wii adventure

In an interview with Nintendo World Report, Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik did not rule out the possibility that Penny Arcade Adventures may journey to Wii Ware. In fact, the idea was embraced with (hesitant) enthusiasm. "It's definitely something that we're investigating. I don't think I can say anything more than that ... I'll say I would love to, I would love to do it, man. I hope we can."

Considering how crazy we are for anything with an incredibly silly title around here, we'll say that we would love it as well. While it sounds like the game is nothing more than a vague possibility for Wii owners at this point, it's enough to get us crossing our fingers and hoping for our own little section On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.
