Peach ate Mario's cake

It seems the glorious baked treat that Peach offered Mario at the end of his arduous Nintendo 64 adventure is long gone. She dumped his podgy butt in the moat and ate it all for herself, and seemingly continued to enjoy royalty snacks for some time afterwards. Peach has plumped up, and now you can buy her!

This eBay auction comes down to a matter of preference. Do you prefer slim, active Peach or hedonistic, pampered royalty Peach? Let you wallet do the talking. The idea of a plus-sized princess is actually pretty interesting. Someone should totally make a game out of it, although we're sure it'll never happen.

[Thanks, Alejandro!]

Why buy the Harvest Moon when you get the cow for free?

There's been a disturbing lack of press about Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. In fact, we've probably seen and heard more about Rune Factory: Frontier than we have about Tree, which came out in Japan last year.

What we do know is that preordering the title through Amazon will get you an adorable cow plushie. Of course, it's difficult to tell when you'll actually receive the game and plush doll; Natsume lists "Summer 2008," Gamestop lists late July, Gamefly lists early August, and Amazon lists late August, to name a few of the scattered release dates.

Still, for Harvest Moon fans who were planning to buy the game anyway, a cute cow plush is a nice bonus that might make preordering through Amazon the best way to go. It's certainly not the greatest gift ever, but we think it will definitely appeal to the Harvest Moon crowd ... mostly because we're in that crowd, and we want one for ourselves.

Pit is back, in plush form

Judging by her gallery, DeviantARTist VioletLunchell seems to specialize in these chibi-style plushes, and her latest piece of work, this Pit plushie, will resonate with anyone who found themselves turned off by the recent batch of alleged concept art for the alleged Wii game.

The artist herself confesses to "[not knowing] anything about video games," but she's done a fairly awesome job here -- this blogger would love one of these to place next to his numerous Pikmin plushes, but sadly this was a one-off commission piece. Probably a good thing, really. There comes a time when a man of 28 really has enough plushes.

[Thanks, YaYaLuvsCupcakes!]

Being the soft, sensitive types that we are, we love our plushes here at Wii Fanboy. Nothing is exempt from our plushie love -- and that includes Metroids, Chocobos, Rabbids, and the Wii itself. We even adore the ugly and gruesome ones.

Because regular plushies are way too cute

Stupid plushies, with their cute little faces and soft, fuzzy bodies. Ugh. Hate 'em! What's there to like about squishable little animals anyway? You know what we need? Uncute plushies. Thankfully, someone is on the cutting edge, ready with the future of stuffed toys. Resident Evil fans, pay attention, for we present: the zombie dog plush, courtesy of mjrahabim's Etsy marketplace. On one site, it's a cute little puppy. On the other? A skeletal undead killing machine. It's dual use! Each puppy is custom-made (which means they may vary from plush to plush) for $25.

And it still manages to be cute. Dammit.

A more TV-friendly Wii

Not only can you throw this Wiimote at your television as hard as you want, but you can go ahead and spike the whole damn Wii into it. That's because Kickass-Peanut's custom Wii uses futuristic "actually being a plush toy and not really a Wii at all" technology.

We think we might like plush game consoles more than the real ones. They're absolutely superior in every way except for playing video games. For some reason, we feel like we're more impressed with Kickass-Peanut's achievement of a Wiimote filled with fluff than we are with Nintendo's Wiimote filled with circuits and junk.

Next, a papier-mache Ice Beam

Eyes5, the Metroid-obsessed crafter who displayed her wonderful Metroid hat at this year's Penny Arcade Expo, has created another lovably soft tribute to everyone's favorite floating head-eaters (and Super Metroid deus ex machina). Her plush Metroids are so delightfully colorful and cute that you'll forget that God those things are so freaking annoying in the first game especially when you're already kind of low on missiles.

But this isn't just a gallery of awesome crafts. Eyes5 kindly wrote up an intensely detailed tutorial for making these monstrous effigies, so anyone with access to a sewing machine and willingness to enter Jo-Ann's Fabrics can make their own little beastie. It'd be the perfect gag gift for Samus Aran's birthday, if we knew when that was and she existed!

Bunny fact #35: Rabbids don't like cats

Check out this awesome rabbid plush, made by reader Michael Karpinski. As big fans of the rabbids (even if we don't always love the games), we were excited to see such an awesomely made plushie doll in their likeness.

What we love even more is this picture of a cat hugging the rabbid, not only because we love cute or funny cat pictures (which we do), but because it makes the expression on the plush's face all the more fitting.

To see the full greatness of this plush when it's not obscured by cat arms, make sure to check after the break.

At last, our own plush guitar

Our wishes have come true! Plush-maker poisonholly must have seen how much we wanted a Wii-specific Guitar Hero stuffie, because one has appeared (like magic) at her shop on Etsy. And nothing says hardcore like plushies will skulls-and-crossbones on 'em, eh? Now you can rock out in (padded) style.

Chocobo plushes wark with the best of them

Perhaps the only thing cuter than a chocobo plush is a chocobo plus with a mage outfit. Just look at him in his little hat! We want this so badly. If only we could justify spending $25 ($30 with shipping) on a plush. But hey, some of you might be more spendthrifty than us, so buy away!

Also, if you like these sorts of things, check out the Santa Claus and white mage chocobos after the break.

Guitar Hero stuffie for wannabe rock stars

If this is not the cutest game-related item you've seen in a while, then we want to know what is. Unfortunately, it's not for sale (shenanigans!), but the brilliant craftster behind this piece, poisonholly, apparently accepts custom orders. We can't help but wonder if we could get this baby in a special design that looks more like the controller for Guitar Hero III on the Wii ... after all, it just needs another white panel for the Wii remote!

Craft Corner: NES plush

If we had a stuffed Mario doll, we'd probably sleep with him clutched tightly against our chest. But, being the manliest of men that we are, we're too busy knifefighting and growing massive beards on our lantern-shaped jaws. Still, this kickass plush NES setup is impressive and we'll give credit where credit is due.

Check out more pictures in the gallery below.

Ugliest Luigi ever

Poor Luigi. The lanky plumber already has enough problems dealing with his older brother always stealing the spotlight and Princess Daisy's failure to commit to a serious relationship, but now he has to worry about embarassing photos from 20 years ago resurfacing on the internet. We all have our fair share of unflattering pictures from the 80s, but the images posted for this vintage Super Mario Bros. doll auction are downright embarassing.

This 3.5'-tall toy was a promotional item from Nintendo that was never released to the general public. Head past the post break to see what the green guy looked like before he tamed his hair and trimmed his mustache. He really let himself go back then -- look at that hat!
