Wario Land: Shake It (at Six Flags)

Unbearably long queues, bawling kids, and exorbitant prices: it takes a lot to make a visit to any theme park bearable. Is a chance to play Wario Land: Shake It and win some neat prizes enough? Let's hope so, because over the coming weeks, the platformer will be appearing on demo kiosks at ten Six Flags theme parks.

At two of those locations (Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles and Six Flags St. Louis) on September 27, the player who completes a specific level in the fastest time will win a holiday to New York and a "Bottomless Coin Sack," containing a Wii, the game itself, a DS, and a gift certificate for Six Flags merchandise ( ... yay?). Hit the break for a full list of participating parks and dates.

Throw shapes to the Boogie Superstar tracklist

That's English pop star Natasha Bedingfield. She's happy because EA has just given her a big bag of clams to sit in front of Boogie Superstar.

The company announced its association with the toothy songstress (who you may recall recorded this annoying ditty) in a press release today, along with Boogie Superstar's complete tracklist. It's mostly what you'd expect pre-teen girls who dream of winning The X Factor listen to. There's a bit of Britney, a bit of Rihanna, and obviously some Natasha (who hogs three songs on the list): perfect fodder for slumber parties, basically.

Order some pizza, build a fort out of pillows, and make the jump for the full list.

Comcast sweetens 'Triple Play' package with a free Wii

If you're willing (or, like many who want to watch TV and use the Internet, forced) to be gouged by Comcast on their "Triple Play" package, they'll go to the trouble of tracking down a Wii for you -- and then pay for it as well. Of course, there are catches to the free Wii program -- other than the fact that you have to pay for the digital phone service that is one of the three components of the Triple Play.

If you want a Wii, you have to sign up for two years of the service, and you have to be a new customer. And you have to do this by August 17. But at least this offer is better than dealing with Comcast sans bribe!

As was the case with Comcast's free DS offer, this promotion is accompanied by an excellent commercial.

Wii Warm Up: We're sold

Ever since the Nintendo Channel was released, we felt the videos on offer did a good job of promoting whichever product was the focal point of any specific video. Whether it's just a video explaining the Balance Board or something else, it's a good way for Nintendo to keep the public informed on what's coming down the pipes for Wii.

Has the Nintendo Channel ever sold you on something, though? Have you ever watched a video on there, only to immediately crave the title in question? Has the Nintendo Channel sold you on any games yet? If so, which games and why?

Wii Warm Up: End of the line

The hype for any given game generally dies down about a week after release, unless, of course, it's a really big game. The problem is that, unless it's one of those really big games, few people beyond those really excited pick up a game immediately, which means that many games get missed in the whirlwind surrounding the next set of upcoming games.

When do you think we should stop showing off media for a particular game -- right around release, or a few weeks after? When do you usually pick up new releases, on average?

GameStop offering free Wii Fit promo DVDs

For those of you who like to collect promotional DVDs, know that GameStop is giving away free DVDs that show off Wii Fit. Our best guess is that the footage on the DVD is things you've already seen (here at Wii Fanboy, we hope), so if you're intending on picking it up and catching something new to watch to hold you over until the bundle is released, then perhaps that might not be the best plan in the world.

Instead, we suggest you approach this as an opportunity to show it off to someone in your life who doesn't know what the 411 is. Show the game off to your mom, your English teacher or simply get a bunch of the DVDs and throw them around like ninja stars. That used to be fun with those AOL 3.0 CDs back in the day.

Vivendi ain't afraid of no promotion

Vivendi has the right idea when it comes to marketing their upcoming Ghostbusters game. What they did was take this Ecto-1 (which, if you haven't guessed, is the Ghostbuster transportation vehicle of choice) and bring it on down to the local Best Buy to start drumming up attention for the upcoming game. Thankfully, website Ghostbuster Fans was on hand to take pictures of the vehicle (like, a lot of pictures), giving us a glimpse at the whole outside and inside of the vehicle.

Hit them up here for the delicious eye candy.

You might score a Wii on Amazon for $79

Amazon is holding its annual "Customers Vote" promotion, and this year you might be able to score a great deal on a Wii. Round 1 of "Customers Vote" includes a choice between a Wii for $79, an Xbox 360 Arcade for $99, or a 40GB PS3 for $139. You have to be an Amazon member to vote for the deal you would like. If you vote for the winning product, you have a chance to be one of the 1,000 people randomly selected by Amazon to purchase it at the promotion price on Thanksgiving (November 22).

Sure, you'll have to be really, super, awesomely lucky as we expect tons of people will be voting, but well, it's worth a shot.

As of writing this, the Wii was leading the vote with 55%. The PS3 was in second with 32%, while the Xbox Arcade trailed with 13%. With the popularity of the Wii and the expected shortages this holiday season, it's not hard to believe that the Wii will get the most votes.

eBay alert: Wii-style Scion xB

We watched Comedy Central for, like, a whole weekend to try to win a Wii back in November, but to no avail. We weren't specifically trying to win this car, which was the actual grand prize, but we would have happily taken it.

... and put it on eBay, which is what the actual winner of the Thanxgiveaway Wiikend has done. Now, we love the Wii, and we love to let everyone around us know it, but having a car with the logo of a popular electronic device painted on the side in giant letters is like extending an invitation to any rogue or highwayman to come on in and help themselves to our Devo CD's.

At least, that was the reasoning we came up with when we were daydreaming about how awesome it would be to win that contest. We might have felt different if we had been presented with our own Wiimobile. Want to (kind of) know what it feels like to win a major award? Bidding is up to $14,100!
