Full Rock Band 2 track list with difficulty ratings
Rock Band 2 boasts an impressive 84-track song list, which will of course be enhanced by downloadable offerings (possibly even on the Wii!) While it's certainly awesome to see songs you love on the list, and imagine making clattery plastic instrument noises along with them, there's another consideration that goes into how awesome your experience with a Rock Band song is: the difficulty. All we want is a game that lets us play fake instruments as "Uncontrollable Urge" and "E-pro" play, but if the songs are too hard, we'd just hear the first few seconds followed by booing.IGN has the full, expansive track list organized by difficulty for each instrument and in full band mode. The hardest song for a full band? Judas Priest's "Painkiller." The hardest song to want to play? Disturbed's "Down With the Sickness." Oooooh wa-a-a-ah!
Rock Band 2 vs. Guitar Hero: World Tour. For other systems, it's an arms race for the most features. For us, it's a battle to remove the fewest. For Australian Wii owners, the winner will be the game that actually gets released!Guys, Rock Band 2 might not be totally gimped
Remember how Rock Band on the Wii landed in stores stripped of the downloadable content and online play seen in other versions? And do you also remember how Harmonix pinned the blame for this on the Wii itself? Well believe it or not, it looks like Harmonix may have found a way to include both in Rock Band 2. Why, it's a goshdarn miracle! Or, y'know, it's Harmonix being completely shown up by Guitar Hero: World Tour and being forced to match Vicarious Visions' efforts.Wired's Chris Kohler writes how Harmonix representatives at E3 promised him that the Wii edition of Rock Band 2 would be a "much more competitive product" compared to its lame predecessor and "fully featured." Kohler reports that he "understood that this extended to things like downloadable content and online play."
Alright, so it's not exactly a cast-iron confirmation of DLC and online play, but at least Harmonix seems to be putting some effort in this time.
Rock Band 2 hits the stage in November?
The particular retailer whose database has spilled this info isn't named, but it's a rental/sales chain, and it's not Hollywood Video. If this is to be believed, the Wii version of Rock Band 2 is coming out on November 18th, two months after the Xbox 360 version, and one month after the PS3 version. We've known that it would be a bit late since the initial announcement.
Of course, we should be outraged, but given the situation with the last Rock Band, we should be thrilled that it's only coming out two months after the 360 version. We'll reserve the full breadth of our enthusiasm until we hear how much content will be missing.

'Leaked' Rock Band 2 setlist fails to convince us
At first glance, this purported footage of Rock Band 2's entire tracklist could easily pass as the real thing. Fooling the entire internet is a tricky business, however, and closer examination of its contents reveal some glaring inconsistencies. For one -- well, for three -- we found a trio of song names that had been misspelt. Also, what's with the difficulty markers, and the way they move about? Hmm. And again, for effect: Hmmmmm.
Still, if this is true, then it's one hell of a line-up; Comfortably Numb could seal the deal for us on its own (you can see the entire list after the break). But no, we're calling this fake, even if it is several shades of awesome -- what say you?

No music creation for Rock Band 2, says Harmonix CEO
Looks like Activision has won the latest battle in the war of the music games, as Rock Band 2 will not feature the music creation stuff that is going to be in Guitar Hero: World Tour. This was confirmed by Harmonix co-founder and CEO Alex Rigopulos in an interview with the Associated Press.
"We really felt like we wanted to do it right," said Rigopulos. "We're taking a radically different approach to that problem. It's something we wanted to take more time to do it right. It's actually something we're not focused on in 'Rock Band 2.' We're really focused on other areas related to the music and bringing the community together." This is likely going to be a bummer for most of you who thought Rock Band 2 would excel over the ambitious World Tour. There's always the chance the music creation stuff in World Tour won't be fun or engaging, but we're not betting on that.

Rumor: More Rock Band 2 songs leaked

Rock Band 2 leaking songs all over the place
Rock Band 2 has been confirmed as not absent for the Wii, so the uber-popular music game will be seeing a sequel shortly. It takes time to manufacture all those instruments and get the "musical genius" process down pat, but once it's done the first time, it's easy to bang out sequels. G4's X-Play leaked a screenshot of the upcoming track list for RB2, and the new songs are:

- "Panic Attack" - Dream Theater (or Finger Eleven)
- "Chop Suey" - System of a Down
- "Give It Away" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
- "Everlong" - Foo Fighters
- "Kids in America" - Kim Wilde
- "Ace of Spades" - Motorhead
- "Hello There" - Cheap Trick
- "Any Way You Want It" - Journey
- "Pinball Wizard" - The Who

Wii Warm Up: Rock Band 2 vs World Tour

Which one looks superior to you right now? Plan on picking up either? Not really a big fan of the genre? What say you all?
Rock Band guitars don't play nice with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
While the above image comes from the Xbox 360 port of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, we're fairly certain the same can be said of the Wii version of the game. In all likelihood, it doesn't play nice with your Rock Band guitar. But, considering how gimped Rock Band is for the Wii (let's hope that Rock Band 2 is a more full-fledged port, like Guitar Hero: World Tour), we're sure most of you are enjoying the game with your wireless Les Paul from Guitar Hero III.
Rock Band 2 announced, Wii port absent [update]
Official word from on high has finally hit that EA's, well ... hit game, Rock Band, will be getting the sequel treatment. During an interview with IGN, lead designer Dan Teasdale talked up the new title, confirming DLC and instruments from the first game will be compatible with the second. Considering the game just released on Wii, we're not surprised that no Wii version of the sequel was announced.
Should Wii owners expect the sequel to release on their platform of choice? Probably, but receiving the game later means that it could possibly be gimped, like its predecessor. But, hey, it's not all gloom and doom. At least we have Guitar Hero: World Tour to look forward to, right?
Update: According to the AP, the Wii is getting the title. Later on this year, in fact.

Survey spills the beans on Rock Band 2
Wii owners haven't even gotten their hands on the completely gimped Wii version of Rock Band yet and here we are, already talking about a sequel. According to a survey sent out by Listen Research, two pieces of concept art were shown, confirming the game is on the way (as if the money made wasn't confirmation enough). We have the image above, and the image that is available over at Joystiq.
It's likely to be headed to the Wii, meaning that it is also going to the PS2 because that's the version we'd likely get. Anyone excited? Anybody care?

Survey says: Rock Band 2 headed Wii-ward
Rock Band is a sore subject among Wii owners, since we'll be getting the gimped version of the game. Even so, that won't stop a Rock Band 2 from landing on Nintendo's console. At least, that's what a recent survey conducted by Listen Research for EA hints at, which has been asking gamers some questions about the pending sequel. Most of the things that EA wants to know have to do with the player's likelihood of purchasing things. The survey includes (paraphrased) questions like: Would you buy the Special Edition set for Rock Band 2 (i.e., the version that includes all the instruments)? And: How many Rock Band Track Packs for the Wii would you purchase within six months? The inquiry we found to be the most interesting, though, asked whether consumers would be more inclined to buy Rock Band or Guitar Hero, which will also utilize multiple instruments soon.
While some people may be more invested in one franchise over the other (depending on which game and instruments they already own), we think that gaining the loyalty of Wii owners is relatively simple. Easily enough, the company who issues the least broken game for Nintendo's console will win this guitar and drums arms race on the Wii.
