While the first Wii media for the upcoming Sam and Max: Season One wasn't particularly enlightening, it was pretty funny -- a staple of the S&M (wow, bet Telltale didn't think that one through) series. Not a PC gamer, eh? Don't worry -- one of the best (and funniest) PC adventure games is heading Wii-ward this August. There's not much that Telltale or Dreamcatcher can reveal about Sam & Max: Season One, considering it's a port and all. To make up for it, though, they tossed in some fresh screens for adventure fiends to check out.

IGN had some hands-on time with the Wii version of Telltale's Sam & Max: Season One and found the experience pleasing. This should come as no surprise, since the game has been out and good on the PC for a couple of years now. But at least it doesn't sound like a disastrous port!
The report describes the experience of using the Wiimote instead of a mouse -- specifically how Telltale mapped the controls. In addition to basic point-and-click movement, Telltale has implemented a feature from the PC Season Two that causes Sam to walk more quickly to a spot when the A button is tapped twice. The Wiimote can be used in two ways in the game's driving segments: either to steer the car or to shoot at stuff using the pointer.

While some of you are still enjoying the beauty of those rad Sam and Max screens from yesterday, the more cunning fans have happened upon a new technology, where pictures actually move! Yeah, it's something else! We're thinking of caling it "Non-Stationary Speedy Image Rearrangement."
The first trailer for the Wii release of Sam and Max: Season One has just hit the web, and it's looking mighty fine. We look forward to sinking our teeth into another adventure game for the Wii (after a certain, ah, resounding success), and August can't come quickly enough. Perhaps some kind of Non-Stationary Time Manipulation Device is in order ...

New Sam & Max screens require no puzzle-solving to view
Unless you consider clicking on one of the thumbnails at the bottom of this post a puzzle, consider these new screens from the upcoming Wii adaptation of the episodic PC title on the house. All we ask is that you give them a good home and care for them as much as we have. It took quite a bit of effort to get Sam & Max Season One onto the Wii, so don't go wasting that effort by ignoring delicious new screens.

Sam & Max to release this August
Adventure game fans, take note: Sam & Max: Season One will be hitting Wii's this August. Those looking forward to solving crimes and revealing conspiracies with a six-foot tall canine and his violence-loving rabbit partner (read: us) are probably champing at the bit right now. Since Telltale was being so coy about Sam & Max coming to the Wii in the first place, we're surprised that the game is hitting retail so soon!Season One and Season Two are already available in full for the PC, but this will be the duo's first console outing.

Telltale talks about Strong Bad, Sam & Max
The folks at Telltale Games have been talking up Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, as well as the upcoming Wii port of Sam & Max, to TheBBPS. Aside from what was said to Joystiq last week, the team at Telltale Games revealed that the Strong Bad game will be running on the same engine that powers Sam & Max. Also revealed about Strong Bad is the inclusion of a "bizarre 'edutainment' title" in one of the upcoming episodes.
In regards to Sam & Max, the decision to go with a retail product made more sense, but they aren't ruling out the possibility of hitting up WiiWare.

Telltale speaks about Sam & Max, Wii
We don't have to tell you longtime readers of the site how excited we are for Sam & Max on the Wii. No longer will those of us who don't have the desire or hardware specs to download the game on our PC be left without an option to play these undoubtedly great episodes (not to mention Strong Bad, which we have high hopes for). Sad to say, though, that this doesn't mean the episodes from Season Two will see a simultaneous release on the Wii.

Telltale brings Strong Bad to attractive people
Wow, we never thought we'd be writing about Strong Bad twice in one week on a Wii blog. Yet, Telltale finally announced their oh-so-secret WiiWare game, which will feature everyone's favorite Homestar Runner mascot. Titled Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, this series will consist of five episodes that will come out on a monthly basis. (As it turns out, the "actual gameplay footage" at the end of the Strong Bad Gameways video is actual gameplay footage!)Like Sam & Max, this game will be in the adventure genre, involving humor, puzzles, and point-and-click goodness. Telltale has also added some neat time-wasting extras, like checking Strong Bad's emails, making prank phone calls, and playing arcade games styled after the ones on Homestar Runner's site.
Between bringing this and Sam & Max to the Wii, we're so in love with Telltale right now. If you're excited, too, make sure to check out the official webpage for SBCG4AP, which just went live (and has a gameplay trailer!).

Sam & Max coming to Wii after all
Remember when Telltale said they had a WiiWare game on the way that wasn't Sam & Max? The part that they didn't say was that this was in addition to a game that was Sam & Max. Telltale has announced that they'll release the collected first season of the episodic Sam & Max game on Wii, published by Dreamcatcher in the U.S. and JoWood in Europe. Sam & Max: Season One comprises six episodes, originally released in 2006-2007. A similar collection on the PC retails for $29.99. Will the Wii pricing be in line with the PC box? No idea! We'll find out as the fall release approaches.

GDC08: Telltale has a mysterious Wii Ware game in the works
When we first heard from Nintendo that Telltale was releasing an episodic game for Wii Ware, we stubbornly believed, Sam & Max! Despite the wording in the press release, in which Nintendo revealed the existence of "a new episodic game series from Telltale," we still held onto hope that we'd get to do some rabbit and dog sleuthing on our Wiis.
Telltale cleared that up pretty quickly, though. The company stated simply, "And before you ask -- no, it's not Sam & Max." Fine, we get the hint.
While the game might not have anything to do with the beloved PC duo, we're sure that Telltale has something really great in store for us. The developer is being coy and keeping tight-lipped about the project, though, which is just making us anticipate it all the more. Hopefully Telltale stops playing hard-to-get soon and tells us what the game is -- unfortunately, patience isn't really a virtue of ours.

Wii Warm Up: Wii Ware progress report

Let's give it a little rundown, shall we? We have a pretty looking spin-off from Square-Enix, a few possible adventure titles, a platformer, some puzzle games (including a beloved classic), a unique butterfly simulation, something currently called Project Bang! -- oh, and then there's the one with the Pokemon. We haven't even mentioned the slew of others that came with Wii Ware's original announcement, and then there may even be some that we've forgotten.
We know you have to be at least a little bit excited for Wii Ware. So, tell us -- which games most strike your fancy?

A German press release recently revealed a Sam & Max game for the Wii, but Telltale isn't ready to confirm anything yet. The Sam & Max developer was tight-lipped on the supposed game, stating, "While it's no secret that we want to bring Sam & Max to the Wii - and it is something we're actively pursuing - we don't have any official news right now ... When we're in a position to confirm that we'll be porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we'll make an announcement about it."
While those of you looking forward to some dog and rabbit sleuthing on your Wiis shouldn't be doing cartwheels yet (or ever, if you're over ten), Telltale's statement makes the game sound more likely than not. We're up for some more point-and-click adventuring, though, so hopefully Telltale will confirm something soon.

A press release on publisher JoWood's website reveals that some kind of Sam & Max game is planned for release on the Wii. According to (the Google translation of) the release, as an upcoming project, "Sam & Max will soon also for Nintendo Wii to hunt criminals."
The press release describes the company's future plans as "adapting" their successful licenses; we don't know if this is going to be a port of Telltale Games' excellent episodic Sam & Max adventure game series, which JoWood publishes as a retail collection, or a new game. Our guess is on existing content, just because that's easier. Also, Telltale has hired Wii-knowledgable staff for something or other.
Wii Ware seems like an obvious choice due to the fact that it fits the existing Sam & Max distribution model (and, again, Telltale's own actions). Being total skeptics, we expect this, if it exists, to be on a disc, because each installment on the PC clocks in at about 250mb, which would eat up the Wii's storage space.
