Nibris returning with more promises

clicky clicky

Most companies choose to issue media via press releases or exclusive articles. But here we're talking about companies with actual games, not just a campaign of windbaggery and empty promises. Nibris, where they tend to focus on the latter, apparently feels releasing what is purportedly the first and only screenshot of Sadness to date (two years late, mind) to some random dude on the Internet is what makes for good PR.

The IGN Wii boards have blown up over the past few days due to the unending campaign of one Nibris supporter, a single purported screenshot, and a few cryptic remarks from the Nibris president himself, who is long known to frequent message boards. The numerous threads are a mess, so we'll attempt to sum up: user Twiilight_Prince posted the above, stating it was an actual in-game screenshot from Sadness and that he had received it from Nibris. He then apparently received messages from the user posting as Nibris, asking him to remove it. He did. Someone else also posted it, and received similar messages. Eventually, the reported PMs were posted. In them, Nibris (who we assume is president Piotr Babieno) did in fact ask for the shot's removal ... and also promised that there would be screens from Sadness and a trailer next month.

Now where have we heard that before? It's same to assume we're not holding our breath around here -- but here's the apparent screenshot for your perusal.

[Thanks, Joe!]

E307: Mario Kart Wii spins its wheels through our hearts

Nintendo didn't give us much on Mario Kart Wii, but it's enough. A smattering of sweet screenshots, a peripheral we're uncertain about, and news of online multiplayer is enough to get any good Nintendo fan's heart racing. As for the upcoming wheel ... Mario and Luigi manage to make it look like a blast! But racing is old hat for them -- they've been doing it for years. We can only guess they needed something new to mix things up a little.

Travis vs. Holly: new No More Heroes images

Considering that Holly Summers is ranked several slots higher than our antihero, Travis Touchdown, it's probably no surprise that she's kicking his ass in these screenshots. But just because it isn't surprising doesn't mean it's not cool. We've put the latest shots in a gallery for your viewing pleasure, because we figure that, just like us, you can't get enough of No More Heroes.

MySims town populated with inconsiderate louts

Poor little Sim guy. So cute. So tiny. And yet, so alone in a crowd of loathsome miniature tormenters with nothing better to do than laugh at him for falling on his face. Shouldn't these people be out sprucing up the city? No wonder they had to bring you in on the job -- the other townspeople are obviously empty-headed wastrels who refuse to lift a finger toward the betterment of their town.

Luckily for the guy in the hat, those cobblestones look more like marshmallows than anything else. He'll be up for his revenge in no time! Those girls better run.

We've got several new shots from MySims and have tucked them away in Wii Fanboy's very first gallery, along with some older shots, for your viewing pleasure.

Alien Syndrome video and screens appear from the sky

You
asked for gameplay footage of Alien Syndrome, and we have it, albeit within a brief ad. Sega's re-imagining of the classic run-and-gun looks pretty decent, and we're dying to test out the controls. Touching may be good, but strafing is awesome, and the controls on this sound like they're designed for power strafing. We also like just about any excuse to shoot things with the Wiimote.

Hit the jump for both the ad and a new set of screenshots, and let us know what you think of Lieutenant Aileen Harding's futuristic shenanigans.

New official NiGHTS screens

We know that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will use the Wii's Forecast Channel for seasonal effects in the upcoming game, and we know that multiple control styles will be available, but we hadn't seen much of the look of the game beyond a few scans. Now, all that's changed; official screenshots have finally been released, and you can stare and drool to your heart's content. Just try not to get it on the keyboard.

More Crash screens than you could ever need

Well, these new Crash of the Titans screens did make us giggle, so we have a little hope for this forthcoming Wii title. The flood of screens didn't hurt, either. We've tucked several away after the jump for your viewing pleasure.

How's it look? Besides, of course, the funny.

A few good Driver screens

The Wii may not be the powerhouse that some wish for, but it's capable of more than some people would have you assume, and these Driver: Parallel Lines screens prove it. Hit the jump to see not only the rest of the screenshots, but a comparison shot from the version that released last year (for Xbox and PS2). The Wii version looks crisp and smooth -- and even without the comparison, pretty good. Now let's hope we see more games that look like this, and fewer games that look like, say, GT Pro Series.

Incredible barrage of MySims screens

Is it just us, or does MySims look more and more like Animal Crossing with everything we see from it? That's tough, considering it looked like Animal Crossing when it was first announced. But we can't be mad. It's too adorable, and we cannot resist the power of MySims. After the jump, there are enough screenshots to convince even the hardest of hearts.

We're really not sure if these are work (or other public place) safe. They are so freakin' cute that they may cause a complete emotional breakdown. You've been warned.

New screens from Dragon Quest Swords

While what we really want are closer impressions of the intriguing character designs, we'll take whatever screenshots we can get from Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, because we eat RPGs like sweet, sweet candy. Behind the jump, we have loads of screens for you -- check 'em out!

As an aside ... wtf, isn't that bridge in Lufaise Meadows? It looks like a place we may have lain, all corpsified and angry.

Checking out Elebits and WiiConnect24

So now we know that Elebits is going to have all sorts of WiiConnect24 features -- but what's it like? How's it look? We know how these questions burn inside you, because we burn, too. Luckily, we dug up a few screenshots of trades in action. Check after the jump for the electric (and devastatingly cute!) new screens.

Elebits invade the toilet

Those pesky little critters will get into anything, according to new screens from Jeux France. We're not sure just what electrical bits might be in there, but -- on second thought, we really don't want to know. Where did we leave that gun this time? They may be trying to escape.

A few more shots of those wily Elebits after the jump.

Red Steel screenshot madness, round 2

Here we are, just hours away from the US launch of the Wii. Still debating on Red Steel? Here are some shiny new screens to look over while you think about it. Several of these really showcase the lighting effects to their advantage. The Wii may not be able to boast the power of the PS3 or the Xbox 360, but if the design is good enough, Wii games can be just as beautiful.

Check out the screens after the jump.

Red Steel screenshot madness

Say what you will about Red Steel -- whether you're interested in the game or not, the concept art we've seen from the design process has been uniformly gorgeous. We got our hands on some fresh new screens that are almost as pretty. Check 'em out after the jump.

Screenshot roundup: Sonic Wildfire

While some of us were more fortunate than others, undoubtedly laughing themselves all the way to the bank as they watched us cry, deep in the back of a long line. That's OK, we can forgive and wait until the game is released. We'll just have to scour the internet, looking for new screenshots to sustain us, much in the way someone who might devour a world would seek out new planets teeming with life. We'll bide our time...for now.

Oh, hey, CVG posted some new screens! We'd best get to the devouring.
